My guages paid for themselves last weekend. I was pulling our 5th wheel along the highway at about 70mph, up a slight incline. I was at WOT when I heard a major air leak. My boost went to nothing and my EGTs shot through the roof. I pulled over and saw that the rubber boot had slipped out from under a clamp on the inter-cooler. Like an idiot, I didn't have the tools to fix it and I was 10-15 miles from anywhere. I was able to drive to a gas station using the pyro guage as a speedometer. I could still cruise along at 55-60mph, but without the guage, I would have been stuck (or worse, driven it with no idea what the EGTs were doing). It just goes to show how useful the guages are, bombed or not.
