I would like to put the guages for EGT & boost

From what i understand I need to drill & tap a hole in the exaust

manifold any one done this with the manifold in place.

what do you do about the shavings . may be grease on the drill

& the tap. where would ge a good place to drill the hole.

What type of guages do recemond. any thing else I should know. trying to do A little at a time. :--) Oo.

I've done it with a magnet and grease method on one truck and a shop vac on another and the shop vac method is much, much, easier and better. What you do is center punch or partially drill the manifold then take a PVC elbow approx 1" dia and drill an access hole bigger than the 7/16" drill bit you will be using. Tape the elbow to your shop vac hose. Put drill through elbow and onto manifold. Turn on shop vac. Drill the 7/16" hole. To tap the hole, I also used the elbow but had to cut one of the PVC ends off of the elbow to shorten it as well as enlarge the access hole to fit the 1/4" npt tap in. I found the best way to tap it was to press a nut onto the end of the tap via a vise. It doesn't hurt the tap. Then you can use a regular socket in that limited space instead of the crossbar.....

If you use the shop vac method do not grease the bit or the tap. There was a post a while back that talked about the shop vac method and they went into a lot more detail than I.

This is my example of the chip-sucker adapter. I just used electrical tape to attach it to the end of my vacuum. It shows the tap inserted through the hole but I used it also with the drill bit...
