whats the most important gauges. would it be one that measures exhaust gas temps? what is a boost pressure gauge, why is it important to monitor boost pressure?



i need a lesson, kinda like gauges 101.

Most important on a bombed diesel is the EGT guage. Boost monitoring is for diagnostics only after you get your initial readings. You know your boost #'s if something changes,you know to go looking for a boost leak. . Betweenm the EGT/Boost guage you can troubleshooot most small problems... ... On the 24V trucks,fuel pressure guage is 2nd to EGT guage on a bombed truck,and I think the FP guage is the most important on a stock 24V truck.

Except for the new common rail trucks, you can't monitor the high pressure circuit and the low pressure circuit is for priming the fuel system only. The common rail trucks don't even need the low pressure pump, DC put it there to simplify start ups should you run it out of fuel.



Much nicer than the "squeeze ball" priming operation on the maxi-pad.
