THE DREADED BRAKE PULL. Thats right folks 22,500 miles and all of a sudden it headed for the right ditch. This truck truly amazes me. There is almost always something wrong witk it and its new. Can,t wait until it gets old. There I vented.

Yea, mine started doing it last week. I have 25,000 miles on it. Went to the car wash and washed all area's of front end real good. Pull gone. Went on vacation w/ my slide-in camper on(2150 mi. ) and no problems. Came back, unloaded, and it started pulling the other way?? Went back to car wash and pull gone. Hmm, guess I'll take the tire's off and check everything. Might be getting low on pads.

I was of the opinion that it was rear brake related too until recently. I never had brake pull bad until 50K miles. I was able to adjust the rear brakes and "cure" it. Then one day I had major brake pull, yank you off the road if you were not paying attention brake pull. It just started out of the blue, no warning. I took it in, under warranty, and had it looked at. The dealer replaced both knuckles, both calipers, and all of the flexible brake lines. I am back to minor brake pull, consistently pulls to the right though on mine. There is a minimum and maximum clearance for the calipers to slide properly in the knuckles, mine were out of this tolerance. I also had one caliper that wasn't releasing all of the way. It is not gone now, but is safe at this point.

LSmith, do you still have that goofy spacer on the right side hub? If you do, try removing it.

I tried it on both sides at one point. Then put it on my head. Didn't make a bit of difference. Now it is hanging on my garage wall. Should just chuck it in the recycle bin.

Don't know what causes the dreaded pull and am sooooo lucky so far 12,000 and has not started and hope it does not. I have never had to adjust a vehicle that had self adjusting brakes so what is the deal. Even the service manual recommends adjusting the breaks every oil change!!! These are self adjusting??? I know they are supposed to be but I guess Dodge knows they are not. Or at least rhey don't work. Just a note about what the service manual says to adjust them every oil change.

I'm convenced that it is the rear drums not adjusting properly. I've tried everything over the past couple of years. And I've had the most success with backing out of my driveway and hitting the brakes hard every morning. As long as I do that, no pull. Make sure you do it in a straight line, not turning and applying the brakes.

I checked air pressre on the front-Ok. I have not washed the hubs/ cleaned them, but interestingly enough some how the pull seemed less today. I,m ready for front pads also. This weekend in fact. Yes that stupid spacer where you can get just barely get lug nuts on for aftermarket wheels. Next time I have the wheels off I,m also going to lose those small clips. Maybe I,ll lose that spacer as well. Anybody else lose theirs? Whine- moan and complain , ain,t it fun.

I yanked the OEM front pads at 35k miles and installed CarQuest Pads (The good ones), didn't turn the rotors, and haven't had it pull since, now have 78k miles. I also have the vented dust shields from Geno's. Just me or have I hit on something?

I've read in previous posts that sometimes
brake pull will start when inner pads are getting down low. Although I'm taking all info. posted in consideration. Probably check it on saturday before the hockey playoffs start, weather permmiting.

Changed front pads to Carbomet at 22,500 ,installed new bushings and lubed. Rotors where cleaned up on the truck and rear brakes adjusted. Pull to the right is gone. I can,t say the truck stops better as these pads are harder?but should last longer. Old pads where still about half good. (Thanks Sam) I,m happy.

TT, glad to hear you've resolved your pull problem.

Those who are suffering brake pull problems should try this: Upgrade to AFTERMARKET CALIPER PINS. Read the first post in this thread: Brake pull fixed, but GOOD! (24V Forum)

I plan to do this upgrade the first time I do a brake job, even though I've never had any brake pull or tracking problems with my truck. . . "ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. "
