I take my truck to the dealership for a tire rotation and front/rear axle fluid change. They drain my engine oil before looking at the Repair Order. Down the drain goes my perfectly good Amsoil - In goes their conventional garbage. Yay. All at 70 dollar per hour shop rates! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

They said "oops, well, we'll pay for the new Amsoil. "

That's still not good enough. I'm just ranting.

AHH! I know how that goes! I am out of warranty so I do those things myself. Even if I was still in warranty I would do them myself, just to be sure, no one else to blame.

Of course, sometimes it feels nice to trust people, then they let you down. Especially at the dealership, that's sad!

Don't take it back to those guys!

They should get points for being honest and offering to pay for the Amsoil without your having to go to small claims, write a letter, yell at the Owner etc. etc.

Sounds like an honest dealer to me. Everybody makes a mistake now and then, what separates the great businesses from the scum is how many mistakes they make and how they handle the customer after the mistake is discovered.

i was going to schedule mine in for first oil change/check up, now i'm not! They can't read any better than me and they get $70 per hour?

You have to expect these sort things when you take anything you own to have work performed on it. I mean, do you really think they actually care about your stuff. People just like to get it in and get it out.

Hey guys I cleaned up a lil bit. Remember THEY read here too Keep it good :) T. C. P

They seem to be O. K~Ish by recognizing their mistake. Heck it could have been worse and they could have pulled that age old "Amsoil should not be used in the cummins anyhow" routine which I believe was tried once before in the past :-{} .

Hmm, it would appear that it is no longer OK to use a letters "ST" in dealership rather than using a "D". I've also noticed that a word starting with "R" and ending in "D" that refers to mentally handicapped persons is also not allowed on the TDR. Interesting... .

:)

Well, yes, they fessed up to it. I have had good luck with this dealership, and I have friends in management there. I was just miffed because I didn't want conventional oil back in my engine. The Repair Order stated right on it, in all caps, DO NOT CHANGE ENGINE OIL. Oh well... yes, we all make mistakes. I did not go in there screaming, but I wanted them to make it right. And the did. For draining my oil and putting conventional oil and cellulose-core oil filter back on, they took $150. 00 off my bill.

So, to the credit of the dealership in question, they did more than enough to correct a mistake and keep a good customer happy. My family has bought three 3/4 ton 4x4 trucks from there in the last couple years, and I'm sure we're not done yet. I'll run this oil for 3,000 miles and then switch back to synthetic. I may switch to the Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme this time, since Cummins endorses it.
