We're talking about another car for wifey, something large cause the 99 QC is getting too small for cross country trips with teenage daughter. I jokingly said "we'll just get you another beater and go for the new Mega Cab". I laughed she laughed. That was yesterday - on the way home from dinner tonight out of the blue she says "you know, I wouldn't mind if you got one of those new big cab trucks, I just wonder what the mileage would be" . . . . . :-laf I said "it would be the same if not better than the 99 and it would be quieter because of the new fueling thingy"

Can you believe it???

So, what kind of mileage numbers are you getting. Please reply only if you have auto - 4 X 4s.

15/20

Around town driving these trucks are sensitive to pedal position. I can light foot it home and get 18+ but my normal sport driving only yeilds about 15-16 around town. Always get 20 on the highway though.

Levitown is about 50 miles from me. I might be able to see that monter from here :-laf

The new Mega Cab gets 45 MPG/City, 55/MPG Hwy. Think your wife would believe that? :-laf With my new 05, I got 19 on the first fill and 17. 3 on the second. The truck is brand new and the outside ambient temp while I put the miles on it was only 10 above for a high; so really, very poor conditions for determining fuel MPG. I only have 880 miles on the truck. There is a 6 spd. in it though... sorry if I wasn't supposed to reply

2004. 5 , 4wd auto crew 13. 7 intown 16. 5-17 hwy, that is after 18-037-04, very kight foot , carry 1500-2000# @ all times, truck runs smooth as a submarine in molten lead.

One of the best buys out there is GULP the FERD Crown Vic/Merc. Marquis line. Rated one of the lest troublesome autos built and one of the most repeat buyers. We have a loaded Marquis. It handles great, tons of room, kinda fast and cruise on a 70 mph gets hand figured high 23s to once or twice poped 25 mpg with the 4. 6 V8. Great buy, huge discounts and below or at invoice etc. That platform has been around a long time(cop cars)also wife say LOTS of folkes slow down when they see her coming or going. LOL

It's got a whoppin' 220 hp with 540 ft/lbs torque. Just right for mama to run her errands with. That is, if she can get stuff in the back of the truck. :-laf

2004. 5 QC 4x4 with auto transmission. I am getting about 15mpg but i drive with a heavy foot. I average about 75-85 when I am on the Interstate. So Im sure if I slowed down it would increase a bit.

Thanks for the replies. Wife didn't buy the 45/55 mileage - thans for the effort :-laf

The Crown Vic is sweet wifey doesn't care for it though? Would like a wagon. Used to have an 89 Taurus, great car plenty of room etc for all the camping gear. We looked at the Volvo XC70, nice vehicle too small though. I'm not a big guy 5' 10" and had to use arms to help get mu foot over the sill to get out of the rear.

I liked her comment that I could get the Mega Cab - it scares me as to what she might want after the Mega is in the drive though. I'll play it smart and we'll look for something for her with the idea that afterwards we'll get the Mega Cab ;)

Later on.

My wife told me my truck looked funny with those little stock tires in those big openings. :-laf I suppose for most members, that would be an open inventation to go out and get some 315's or something. Problem is, I like the truck as low as I can get it (I tow a 5er, don't you know). :D

2004. 5 QC 3500 SRW 48re

I have 28,300 miles on it now. I am getting about 14. 5-15 in the city driving. On the highway, the best I have ever hit was 19. 2mpg. Normal is about 16. 8-17. 2 though. I kick myself every day for not getting the DRW with the 6-shooter though.

My new truck was my wife's idea too ;) . I told her I was going to spend some money on the old truck ('01. 5) to do the sound deadening project and she said "why don't we just get a new one?". I reluctantly agreed :D .

Incidently, it's now getting 16. 3 on the computer. That's on winter fuel. I've had the re-flash done.

If its mileage you are thinking about, you might do yourself a favor and get a Hemi. I had one as a rental and it got about 18 with my foot in it. Lots of power and runs on $1,95 regular! Diesel here is $2. 73 as of today and going up!

:{ Being that it was a rental, I thought I would put it through its paces. Like they always say, nothing goes over a speed bump faster than a rental car! :-laf I had the thing for 5 days and put about 700 miles on it. The overhead read 17. 8 and it calculated out by hand to be 18. 2. . I was impressed. If you are buying to tow, then I would buy the Cummins... . Just my 3 cents worth

I get about 11. 5 towing 12k at about 60mph. Empty on the interstates I can see about 18-18. 5 again around 60mph. It has been slowly improving and I now have 20k on the clock. We are now on winter blend so I have hopes that it will improve yet a little more come spring-summer. If not, I am satisfied considering the towing ability and overall sweet ride. I have a very short commute, about 4 miles and see only about 11-11. 5 on that empty. Hard service on the rig but that is life. Someone said these things are sensitive to the pedal and that is very true. Getting over 4 tons up and running takes its toll. BTW, with the package I have, full tank and the wife and me +toolbox and 5er hitch, it weighs 8320#. So overall, it is doing very well.

Hemi getting 18+ MPG??? :-laf

Somebody is smoking something. :-laf I have driven several and they don't touch that figure.

Beleive it or not, I drove it, I filled it on both ends of the trip, and I did the math. Im not the only one that has got rather impressive mileage with a hemi. . Looks like you didnt drive it hard enough. Yeah, its great smoke dude... ...

rashwor beat me to it! The wife's 1500 hemi runs like stink but the mileage is awful. Even with diesel costing way more than gas it still costs me less per mile to drive my 3500 DRW. That makes the wife :{

18 mpg ?? I don't think her's would get 18 mpg if you put it on a flatcar and shipped it to Mobile :-laf

Hemi mileage

Well PJ I believe you.

I had a 2003 2500 QC before my present CTD. I only took one trip with it

though, from East Texas up to Morrilton, Arkansas which was around 640mi roundtrip. I averaged 17. 4 mpg with the auto trans.

The roads were good but there were many stretches that were definitely not the best for checking mpg.

I plan on taking that same trip this Spring with my present ride and I plan

on doing better for sure.
