99 Dodge Ram 4x4 all the bells ... On page 125 of issue35 Gulf coast has a oil filter. I was wondering if anyone has installed one yet and if they really work? If you have installed one where did you locate it and what all was involved? Come on ,some of you young guy's out there that's up on this stuff , Can you help out a old Vet. NRA and DU Man, Stood in the EAST Too ,... Thanks guy's Radar Doctor

Is this the company that uses toliet paper or papertowels for filters?? If so there are a couple of guys using these systems that will jump in here soon. As for me, I am going to stick with the stock oil filter system. There is just no way I believe that toliet paper or papertowel is a good filtering agent.

I get the impression that you still use a stock filter and this sistem just moves a small amount per min to filter smaller particles.

I recommend you look into the Oilguard or Amsoil Single bypass. I believe the Gulf Coast filters will work well, but I also think they require changing the TP element fairly often (like 3k ?)

http://www.oilguard.com has a good write-up discussing pros and cons of some of the different style filters. The only thing they won't point out is that the clearances required for theirs are greater than for the Amsoil spin-on style bypasses.

I agree with JR2, although I'm new to the TDR forum, my current Cummins is my 4th out of 23 diesels. I have never had an engine failure caused by an inferior oil filter. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it":p

Doc, do a search in the "products and accesories" forum using the name "Frantz". It was a few months back.

This should give you a lot of info. It's about a 4 or 5 page thread.
