ok, here's the deal... I noticed that you cannot put the normal gunracks in the back windows. . there is a gap on the bottom, and nowhere for the rack to wedge into on top... this is frustrating, because I am not going to get the one where you drill holes into the roof of the truck, and I have expensive window tint, and the sticky cup racks may mess it up. Has anyone else had this problem?? I am tempted to get a knife, and try to cut a slat in the top to make room for the rack to wedge in somewhere. the only place now, is between the headliner, and the window. . we all know that the headliner is not that strong, so bad idea there. . Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

visor mount

What about the ones that mount over your head along the windshield and use the holes the sunvisors use. I have one that is just a shelf, and I love it. They make those types for rifles as well. Just a thought. Keeps em outta site for theives too.

Check the Cabelas catalog. They have them that attach to the back of the seats in pickups and SUV's. I too am looking at them for hunting next year. They're $50. Sixpack

One of my friends gave me some that worked out pretty well. They have a little flat foot kind of thing that goes in the slider track or behind the rubber. You then spread them apart and tighten them , and they stay pretty good. 2 gun model.

I carry my gun in my waist band!LOL Of course that only works for handguns. Carry my shotguns and rifles under my back seat though.

Sorry I couldnt help more.

That is a good point Seed Guy, I used to have gun racks in my old truck, but no more. Then again, where I was from, it wasn't uncommon to go through the high school parking lot and see shotguns in the back windows of the trucks and not think anything about it. MAN I miss livin' in the country.....

I think plenty of us are still carrying guns, but not so visibly as in the 1960's. A long gun doesn't need to be readily available while you're driving or parked (I hope), so storing it in a place where

the thieves won't know it's there is a good thing.

Handguns, of course, can still be in a number of handy places.

I put my rifles/shotguns into inexpensive Doskocil black plastic cases and lay them on the floor. Since I have a cap, I can also put them in the bed, but I don't trust the cap's locks as much as the cab door locks. By keeping the guns out of sight, I have increased security significantly.

Happy shooting.

gun rack

CHeck JC Whitney. Just saw that they have one that mounts over the drivers head and holds a rifle out of view. look like it would only hold one gun though.
