I keep a 12 GA. by the bed, house and camper. That is my weapon of choice. The wife has the handgun, and I don't want to know where or if she carries it.

P. S. Be careful of CCW permits and the possible reprecussions of getting one. After talking to several CCW class teachers and a couple of lawyers I decided not to get a CCW permit here in Michigan. All of them agreed that having a CCW in MI actually limited what you could do and increased the possibility and severity of reprecussions in a situation where you'd need to use a gun than if you didn't have it.
The reason for that is because after getting the CCW permit you have taken the CCW class and are now more informed as to your responsibilities than you would otherwise be. I've talked with several friends that have taken the classes and gotten their permits and afterwards said that if they had known what they learned in the class that they wouldn't have gotten them. As I understand it carrying concealed without a permit is a misdemeanor in MI - basically a slap on the wrist.

Hi folks. I usually don't find myself in the "Towing, Hauling and RV Forum" even though we have a fiver. I was just looking around and, bang, happened upon this thread!![]()
I have a simple question: Whatever happened to our God-given right to self-defense? I believe it is recognized in the United States Constitution's so called "Bill of Rights?"
I am a fervent 2nd Amendment advocate. This thread simply points to the injustice that is prevalent in our nation regarding the complete ignorance and disdain of the wording of the Second Amendment. I am community and the majority of them feel the same way I do. Only power-hungry politicians and their naive supporters see an advantage in trampling or limiting law-abiding citizens' right to carry a LOADED firearm.Man, I could really launch, but I will resist the urge!
When is our "conservative" Commander in Chief and our new "conservative" Congress going to address this outrage? I'm not going to hold my breath - - but I will continue to carry my weapon - - loaded.
At the very best, an unloaded weapon is no better than a club. At worst, an unloaded weapon will cause more harm to its owner than not having one at all!

I am well connected with the law enforcement community and the majority of them feel the same way I do. Mo, do you have a CCW? If so, you asked fora license so that you could exersize a right. If you had to request a right, is it really a right?
Just thinking out loud.....

Paul R. Haller... ... . An unloaded gun is useless. Any gun that is not on my person is locked in a gun safe. I do have two children that are never around any weapon without my supervision. And I do believe the gun owner, not the manufacturer are solely responsible for what happens with a gun.
I do believe a shot gun is a better home defense weapon but I am not able to secure (child proof) a shotgun and still have quick access to it. I use a quick entry pistol safe at bedside.

Also be careful not to stereotype diesel truck owners.
I was until a few months ago the proud owner of two BMW's and a minivan. None of which were very good at towing my four wheelers or snowmobiles.
