Guys w/ lifts & big tires

Not looking to go too insane and I'm probably not going to go crazy off roading either, but I'd like to put 315/75-16s on my truck w/ 10" rims. I need new springs in the front anyway, but I need to know what size lift to get. Skyjacker has a million sizes, and my truck sags a lot, so I can't go off of where I am now. Thanks-Nick

I'm running the same size tire and wheel. I did a 2" spring lift, skyjacker on the front and custom on the rear from National spring in calif. I also had the front wheel opening enlarged to the rear for tire clearence since at the time I was 4 wheeling this truck real hard. For the street I think you could get by with just a 2" lift to fit the 315's on 10" wide rims.

I have the Skyjacker 2" Springs on the front and run 305/70-16s they are a little shorter than the 315s and they rubbed the plastic trim at the back of the fender well until I trimmed it, I think you might need a little more lift for the 315s.

I have the Skyjacker 2. 5" soft ride spring system. Makes the truck level and about 1" higher than stock. My 33"s are no problem but for 35"s you're looking at a 4" lift. What I like about the 2. 5" system is it gets rid of the rear spacer block. The ride is much much better and there is less hopping on the rear end.

Do you guys think you could measure the height between the center of the hubs and the bottom of the fender(metal, not the flare)? I'm just trying to see what the final result will look like. Thanks

If I recall correctly there was a 1st genner here running some Nitto (sp) tires that were about 34" with the same lift I have and said it worked fine. If I were 10 years younger I would have put a taller lift and bigger tires on but it's hard enough loading my arse into it as it is.

Skyjacker 4 inch front/6inch rear with 2. 5 inch blocks. 285 Yokohama's on Eagle 16x8 187's. Plenty of room for more tire.

Here is my $. 02. I put the skyjacker 2. 5" softrides on the front of my truck, and 33X12. 5X16. 5s and had to trim the factory plastic fender flares for no rubbing. Occasionally under full flex and hard steering the tires would still catch the fender. Now I have 305 70R16's, they are larger then the 33X12. 5's and they will rub under slight flex, I don't wheel the truck anymore. I am thinking I will be going smaller in the future for better power when towing. I really noticed the truck having to work harder while towing, just going from the 33's to the 305's.



I like the looks of your truck Fred. A little too tall for my trailer puller but I think those tires would look right under my truck. What do you think of the Yokohomas? I think I'm going to go away from the mud thread a little for better economy, and tire life. Wow, I must be getting old, smaller tires, no mud tread, economy, tire life,---- what the heck am I saying.

Michael, I've run these on other trucks, and they are very quiet, yet look aggressive, and have big enough voids to actually do something off-road.

I measured my truck last night, it has 26" from center of hub to lip of fenderwell (no plastic) front and rear. Our sagged out stock 93 W350 single wheel has 22" in front. I'd like to know what you guys measure with the 2. 5" skyjackers up front. I have a set on my garage floor and want to know if they are gonna give me what I have now. MMiller?

Okee dokee. That being said, I've had 35x12. 5x16. 5s on my truck on both 16. 5x8 and 16. 5x10 wheels (both neutral backspace). The only place they rubbed was in the rear of the wheel opening near the fender, but they actually rubbed the inner fender. I think I could have cured this with a bit of light hammering causing no harm to the fender itself. They only rubbed at about 3/4 lock if you hit a fairly substantial bump, or flexed it good. They would not rub at full lock, or when straight. I very rarely had it rub on the street. The tire itself could also play a part in rub or not. I had BFG T/As which have a very square shoulder. If the shoulder were more rounded, they mightn't have rubbed. I think the 2. 5s will fit the bill.
