OK,got the box installed, runs better but not good enough. I know the non H/O motors respond better than the H/O's do, but how do they do with bigger injectors will it pick it up a lot more or just so so. think i know the answer but thought i would ask for sure.

I like my DD111's way better than the comp box. Injectors will give you more than the box on the ETH for sure, and together they are a nice combo. My head gasket has lasted 10K miles so far with the HX40 wastegated at 40psi. Oh yah did I mention you will need a turbo if you want to turn up the comp with bigger injectors on it as well... ... . if you want to be able to use the power that is. ;)

I wouldnt be scared about losing your head gasket,

I know several who run the Comp on an ETH and have not blown their head gaskets yet.

I would recommend some bigger injectors to make a good difference with your ETH, but the Comp is also a part of the game and not to be left out.

Darn, you guys are starting to scare me... . I have had my DD3's & HX40 in for about 16 months and around 30K miles now, and the drag Comp for almost a year and at least 20K miles. I have only made about 10 trips down the drag strip, I don't sled pull or tow anything, and on any given day I drive fairly mildly, but I have so far had zero problems with my head gasket. Of course I am very, very interested in O-ringing my head and maybe going with a different head gasket next year... .

I'm hardly a "Comp expert", or veteran - but with several thousand miles on my '02 HO with the Comp - mostly pulling a 7000 trailer in Sierra and coastal grades on 5x5, no problems, EGT's at 1200 max, and ALL the power a reasonably intelligent and responsible driver could possibly use - I'm sure that I could pull my setup over the Sierras on Hwy 80 at 90 mph if I was foolish enough... ;) :D

I sincerely doubt a Comp alone on ANY setting is gonna grenade yer engine or pop a headgasket!

Yep,thats what i thought injectors are next on the list. I was told that about the head gasket on my 12 v with the boost i was running but no problems! me and the kid had a little race between the two today and the 12v still hammered the 24v:{ can't have that!

Thanks mike

I have a ETH/DEE

And run DD3s and a HOT Comp Box. The truck has 49,004 miles as I looked @ it before I came in. This combo has been on the truck since 2,500 miles. I have Truck pulled it, drag raced it, and worked the poop out of it haulin 30k+ with this combo with nothing but Injection pump problems partly due to me. As I have found out too much presure is just as bad as too little pressure to the VP44.

I would say if you keep the fuel pressure around no more then 17psi you will be ok

guys you are correct... the ones I remember talking about the head gasket have additional / very high boost #'s... sorry I might have confused the issue

Stroke this sez:

"As I have found out too much presure is just as bad as too little pressure to the VP44. "

Wanna elaborate? What happened to yours, and what setup/pressures were you running to the VP44?

I run about 21 psi down the road, 24 or so at idle, only drops below 20 psi with my foot firmly in it - I want to experiment with a small diameter bypass tube around my added Carter 4600 pusher, both to slightly reduce total pressure, and to provide a fuel path in case the pushe quits for any reason...

pusher pump

I to have a pusher pump that I've ran a year work great! I run 20psi at idle and not lower than 13 at wot. I think that the only place that to high of pressure matters is that on start-up no more than 9psi,the vp44 I think is fine with 20 to 22 psi after started. Thanx Eric Wagener

Questions...

I'm curious as to how much line pressure you ran and for how long to blow the seals? Did you replace the seals or go for another pump? Larry

"I tried high head pressures to the pump and blew the seals out"

JEEZE guy, they don't charge by the WORD here - we need DETAILS! Don't be so "thrifty" with words!

1. How MUCH head pressure are you calling "high"?

2. What sort of setup did you use, an added pusher pump, a higher pressure replacement for the stocker, WHAT?

3. How many miles on setup at failure?

Failures like yours are RARE, so some of us are seriously interested...

We don't really wanna know yer life history or bank account - but this IS an info board, and some INFO would be helpful!;) :D

Just an FYI... just talked to Scotty [psychotty air fame] and he blew a head gasket this am... he has a drag comp and a HX40 or B1 not sure which right now. . so his boost #'s would not be mighty high. . and he is running DDIII's
