Competition marine version or not?

Hello fello Rammers! I am new to this site, please bare with me (I'm a little uneasy as to navigation at this point). However, I have a few questions. (1) does anyone know the dyno'd H. P. for an 02, 6 speed with DD 2's, and an Edge EZ?, that's what I have now. (2) I have the opportunity to exchange, and pay the difference for a Comp. If so, what H. P. would the DD 2's, a Comp, and an Piers HX 40 make, realistically? (3)Is there REALLY that much difference in the feel of "in the seat of your pants" with the latter combination, in comparison to my immediate upgrades? By the way, what does the acronym "Bombs" stand for? Some of you guys are "Wild" Thanks for letting me be a part of this group. Dave

Dave, welcome my friend and thanks for calling us wild :D

cant help you on the hp and torque ### but you can get an estimate from the edge site to help you some, others will chime in with help

B. O. M. B. is an acronim for better off modified baby :D

cheers, Kevin

340-360 HP, and you will gain maybe 30 HP from the comp over your current setup and lots of EGT.

Welcome aboard Dave!! Don't be shy, just jump in with both feet!!!

Every truck is a little different. I have a 2001 6speed and a comp. With the comp you can ajust it on the fly. I had a E-Z to use to try it out . There is a BIG differance I would if I were you BUY THE COMP! you won't regreat it. On a dyno at B-D in OCT the wire came loose when I hooked the pump wire back together I gained more that 40HP with a connector is that worth it to you? Also with the wire connected you can smoke ALOT more. Have you done your clutch yet? you"ll need it with a box and II's. My truck with the E-Z and II"s dynoed at 330. When you get up to this hp you might was to think about upgrading fuel lines, air intake to help the engine a little more.

Thanx Eric Wagener

Eric,

I forgot to mention that I have boost and pyro gauges, K&N filter and a South Bend Con OFE clutch. Also I agree with the clutch thing, stock one ok with the EZ. But... added the DD2's and I could slip it in 5th. So... I called Andy and he sent me a South Bend Con OFE. I like it, it feels stock and seems to hold good so far. It only has about 1500 mi. on it. Maybe I should have gotten the FE instead? Because if I can get some good input here by adding the PDR HX 40 and a Comp, that brings up the other question: Will I be exceeding the limit of the OFE? What are you talking about upgrading fuel lines?I have been reading about lift pumps and fuel pressures. I guess that these would be an IMPORTANT investment? Again, I apologize for asking these embarrassing kindergarten questions to some of the pros, but give me a little time an who knows I might just concieve triplets :D How do you get all the truck stuff at the bottom of the post? Dang Newbie Questions!

Oh!! I know this one!!!!Oo. Oo. Oo.

Go to the user cp button toward the top of your screen. Then there will be a user profile or something of that sort. Click on it and type away. Good luck with the baby, looks like you have good things going for her. ;)

Take care

Mark

Hey man I just wanted to say everytime I see a newer dodge w/ that bright silver it just about make me nut up... especially w/ shiny chrome wheels. I got a quote to paint my truck that color and it was like 5k!! Oh yeah and adkins "chrome" is a bad song especially since it mentions stacks!

I bought that CD just because of that song. I also love that silver. I see a silver dually in my future with stacks and tinted windows. The wife keeps stealing our current ride so I need another. LOL

13s with a 5 speed is moving there man. Nice rig.

Smokewagon, I don't think that you'll be to high for the clutch. Al at piers says that ofe will hold 450. You still might want to call to be safe. Getting rid of banjo bolt will make sure that the injection pump will be cooled and lubed for a long time as we as getting all the fuel that engine can burn.

I just got back from having my truck dynoed on a Mustang with almost the same setup you are looking at.

Comp level 3 - 318hp, 863ft lbs

Level 4 - 313hp, 893ft lbs

Level 5 - 301hp, 828ft lbs

I has expecting more hp. I'm sure altitude makes a difference. I think that I'm way over-fueled above level 3 (I really need a bigger turbo). The guys at Colorado Diesel said that the Mustang gives a more accurate hp reading than the Dyno Jet, which tends to give falsely high readings. I can't complain about the torque though.

Colorado Diesel also said that they tested a Duramax with a Juice and Propane and it came in around 290hp.

FWIW,

Kevin

Uhhmm I thought the Dynojet gave accurate consistent times. And I thought the Mustang gave higher hp numbers because they can load your truck down so you can get your boost up.

ETC numbers will be higher than the ETH numbers if you add a comp and 2's. The original poster has an ETH, it is not the same animal.

Kevin K, if your lift pump is good change your fuel filter and then re-dyno. Something is wrong for the numbers you put up, and I would guess it is a fuel supply problem.

Hi Kevin,

The figures that you gave are somewhat lower than I had expected. The Edge dyno comparison chart for an 01, with a comp and without DD2's is higher than that. I am no pro however, I would tend to believe that you can get more h. p. than that based on my reading and understanding. Mine runs really well considering that I have no more bombs than I do presently. ;) But... ..... wait untill I get the Drag Comp and the 40 installed..... Then I'm hoping for, Oo. Oo. Oo. ! I appreciate your input. That's another reason this site is so  Everyone can pitch in and help one another with problems, and inturn others will help others again. I hope you check it out and let us know, then I think you will give us a bigger:D

Dave

Smokewagon,

look at my signature. I have the same setup you are talking about. My last dyno HP was 352. The operator had no way of hooking up for rpm, so no torque readings. I also have the stock clutch and it is holding strong and the truck has over 30,000 miles:D

mopars1

I had posted earlier that with the EZ, my stock clutch was fine. When I added the DD2's, I could stand on the smoke pedal and my R. P. M. 's would wonder over in the factory danger zone in 5th gear. That's why I put the OFE in. Ken at Diesel Dynamics is a straight shooter, he said it would happen and he was exactly right. I have never had my truck on the dyno yet, although I wish I would have so I could know exactly what BOMB's made what H. P.

I'm hoping for good numbers when the other stuff is added:D It's absolutely amazing how these little 5. 9's can make so much H. P. so easily. :--) :--) I think I'll like the additions. I can only hope for the best.

Dave

Smokewagon,

if memory serves me right, when I had just the DDII's and no Edge EZ, my dyno HP was 310-314. The dyno's were made by the same company, but I have dynoed at three different facilities and the output was very close between all of them.

Also, I was just making a statement that my clutch does not slip at this time, as most seem to. I am not saying I won't need a clutch in the future, but all clutches need to be replaced in time. I guess I am just lucky that my clutch is holding Oo.

David

My dyno numbers disappointed me a bit too. All of my hp curves are extremely flat. I don't have RPMs, but from 55mph to 75mph all three curves (levels 3, 4, and 5) sit at right around 300hp. The torque curves are very similar to what DD has on their web page, but the hp curves are much flatter than either Edge or DD show.

The fuel filter is pretty new (<5K miles) and the pump seems to be working fine (according to the gauge). I do see higher EGT's and more smoke as I increase the level, so it appears to be getting more fuel. I can peg the gauge at 1500 degrees in level 4 or 5.

Is is possible that I've just maxed out my air supply and like a gasser, running overly rich reduces power? I am in Colorado, which seems to be tough on air flow. By the way, my max boost is ~31 pounds.

Thanks,

Kevin
