Competition marine version or not?

KevinK

I have just a EZ and DDIIs I can get in the 30 to 31 for boost and I have the HY-35 turbo(wastegate disabled). My EGT temps can go above 1350 but it takes a big hill unloaded and quite a bit of time. I was close to 90 mph on a 6% grade and 5500ft elevation when I let of for EGT. Still have the stock intake and exhaust.

slippage = minus hp

hince if you increase hp you increase slippage= a show of lower hp.

If you understand you understand this post.

If your hp dropped its be cause of slippage. :p

a lack of feul will level a curve but not drop it.

I wasn't able to get back and see what they were doing, but I suspect they didn't get the TC locked. I adjusted my smart controller to stay locked up a WOT, but I don't think they gave it a change to lock. I didn't look at the transmission temp afterwords to see if it had gotten exceptionally hot, so I'm not sure if there was just more slippage or not. If you're talking about tire slippage, I don't know. They have tested much higher hp trucks than mine.

I have also heard, since Saturday, that an MD-250 dyno will max out at around 320hp (although Mustang claims it will measure up to 900hp).

There's another shop around here with an MD-1750 that I'll try.

It also looks like I'm at the limit of my turbo. I can hit 1500 degrees in about 4 seconds if I try at all.

Around 400 hp (407 best) is what I am seeing for a Comp box, HX35, and Bully Dog IV's.

As far as dyno's, each of the vendors offer more than one model which could change your final power reading. From what I have seen, the Dyno Jet 248 is best for being able to repeat numbers AND repeat numbers from one DynoJet 248 to another. Loading dyno's can generate more boost therefore possibly more power, but IMO, this is hard on a vehicle.

KevinK,

Try the MD-1750. It puts a lot more load on the motor. The last time I ran on a 250 it said I had 288 hp and 980 ft lbs:confused:. Something wasn't right.

Welcome to the website!!

When you finally decide on your "upgrades" I would suggest

looking into an auxiliary ("pusher") fuel pump!! The added

H. P. and fueling of the boxes is surely going to pull your

F. P. down below the "safe" levels.

My son recently installed a "Product Engineering" PE 4300

pump which flows 270 G. P. H. , has a seven (7) vane impeller,

and hi-flo -8 fittings. There are also other pumps available

that the members are using. If you don't do this, you will

be like alot of the rest of us, fighting to use all the H. P.

while you watch your fuel pressure go down to "0" under

WOT!!

Here is the website for the PE pump: www.productengr.com.

Andy and Doug @ "Advanced Diesel Technology" sell the pump

along with a real nice "kit" including stainless steel braided

line which runs all the way from the fuel tank to the VP-44

pump. Their website is: www.smokindiesel.com.

Good luck!!

The only true way to dyno is to load the motor. What good is a dyno sheet that has you not at full boost, your #'s will be alot lower than they should be. . Load testing is how they rate tractors and semi trucks. This is how I will dyno next.
