Tires are balanced by locking onto the core hub. Does your method leave the center intact for balancing purposes? Exact center?

pretty darn close. . i had no issues balancing mine other than the sticky weights they used on the wheels slightly rub the rear calipers. . so if you go with sticky weights, only use them outboard so you have no weights on the outside face of the rim [cleaner looking imho] and regular clip on weights on the inside face

once you have your router set for depth, you slowly feed it around the wheel. if you do it right, you have an undisturbed edge on the outside face. with the right cones, you can clamp your wheel from that edge in the balancer so you have a factory machined edge to balance from

Thanks for the input. I always go with the dynamic balance(weights on both outer edges,so no problem with the stick-ons and caliper rub). My local machine shop charges $70. 00/hr,so I thought maybe $30-35/wheel would be reasonable, but $50? I didn't even pay that for the wheels themselves.

I have the chrome center caps (3rd gen style) with the satin finished wheels, I think it looks good. I would prefer them be silver like the wheels, but I already had the chrome ones. I had 2 painted ones, and 2 chrome ones as well. I scuffed up the chrome and painted them with Rustolium silver metallic for the hub caps on my van. So far, paint is holding up well and the color was pretty close.

WOW!! I got mine done for $80 out the door w/ them being CNC Machined. If you are ever up in Norcal. I can point you in the right direction. :-laf

I just picked up a set of H2 wheels and am looking to get them machined. I'm in the bay area..... you got a suggestion as to where to get them machined??

JRH Machine Shop in Petaluma (North Bay). It may or may not be worth the drive up from the East Bay. I looked around my local area. I am sure there is some in your area. If your interested. PM me and I will give you the address and phone number.

If you give them heads up, you could probably make an appointment to go there in the morning and have them do it the same day (one trip).

I also used the Router/flush bit method hardest part for me was vacuuming up the shavings on the floor..... no issues what so ever... ..... its the only way to go if you have a router..... btw I used a single speed router also..... Oo.

my cap do not look link yours mine have a continious flat ring to hold the raised area on the lug nuts and do not work with the hummer rims on. The raised part of the lug nut is too recess.

I had to slit the ring and push it out to hold in the recess of the hummer rim.

What vehicles have the 8 separate curved pieces that grab the Lug nut. and do they grab the lug nut or the raised ring on the lug nut thank for your help I lost one hub cap so far with my system ED I hope that this is a clearer then mud.

Mine (97) grab the lug nuts but has an area all the way around the metal part to catch the nuts but had to trim off about an inch of the plastic and the metal for them to work.

thanks I just found part numbers and both styles on ebay the grab around will work great. just have to machine the outer portion of the rim as I did on the originals. thanks for you help ED

Will they fit....?

I'm considering putting some H2 wheels on my '96 2wd. Does anyone know if they will fit? I don't intend to put on big tires, just the size that comes on the 3rd. gens. (265/75/17) I think. Almost all my driving is hiway so a Michelin LTX or something close is what I'll use. I can find some pretty reasonable deals and I can machine them myself. If anyone has any pictures or advice about my application, I'd appreciate it. Jim

Ya, it's dirty... got caught out in the rain yesterday.

Also, is this how the late model center caps fits too? I assume the newer models fit about the same as the older ones do..... and yes, I have short bed rails. Took the tool box off after the storm so I could carry more stuff and will be sticking the box back on soon.
