I am seeking information about installing H2 wheels on my SRW 3500. . Specifically I am concerned about the weight handling capacity of them. About 90% of my driving does not concern me with regard to the carrying capacity... but the other 10% of the time when it is loaded to the max with a couple of pallet of concrete is what concerns me. Advice/ comments?

I want to get away from the stock chrome clad steel wheels as per my comments in THIS THREAD ... My first choice would be to go with the factory aluminum rims, but a good deal on the H2's came along; I would like more information before I look further into the change.

Thanks,

-frank.

Good luck getting a reply. I posed the same question a week ago and barely got a sniff in my direction. I tried researching the load rating and got stone walled EVERYWHERE!

The guys on the Chevy board don't know. One of them even approached the company that makes the wheels (Superior) and they wouldn't comment. My local tire guy that I bought mine from (Les Schwab) called the local GM folks who called their corp office (alledgedly) and nobody would spill the beans. I would love to know the answer if you get one.

Here's my thread

Looking at a pictire of them, they don't look like much. When you actually pick one up and feel the thickness they seem much more stout. I was hesitant to make the switch initially, (there weren't many who had done it yet) but it seems like there are a bunch of people using them and I haven't heard of any problems.

I have loaded mine heavy on a number of occasions. (just built a house and hauled all kinds of building materials) I had the back end get away from me while turning a corner (unloaded) on ice and smacked the curb pretty hard. After a roadside look, I watched in the rearview mirror and was happy to see no hint of wobble. (It wasn't real hard, but I'm not so sure a steel wheel would still be straight)

I think if there were a problem, you would've heard about it by now.

is there a DOT number anywhere on the rim? (should be, might be hard to find though)

post that up and ill see what i can find.

Not sure what a DOT number would be. I've got a couple extra sets in my garage so I went out and opened a box to look. There are numbers all over it-- Both cast in it and printed on it. One that is cast is 17X8. 5JX18. 0 T-DOT

Is that just size or is that it?
