Okay gentlemen, was about to put my toys away for the day tonight, then I thought, maybe I ought to drain the fuel filter while I'm thinking about it. Well I put a container under the hose and drained a little water out, nothing to worry about. Noticed that the drain didn't seem to seat like it should of, but anyway started him up backed in the garage, looked and fuel was all over the driveway! I guess that the drain stuck open for some crazy reason and fuel drained out while I was moving it inside. I decided that maybe I should take the filter off and maybe look at it.
Around the top of the filter was rust! Rust in my fuel filter!? And this ain't the first time I've seen this. The rust made the drain valve a little sticky.
Has this happened to any of you guys? The truck runs great but I guess that someday I'll have to remove the fuel tank, maybe there is something in it.
Comments, Suggestions, Thanks Guys, pardon the ramblin'.

Hello chris. is the rust IN the filter or outside the filter? fi it's inside there must be a piece of steel tubing somewhere in your fuel lines 'cause the tank is plastic and there is no room for rust in the pump. time to start looking for a roadside repair somebody did. maybe, and this is very posible, whoever you got your filter from had it sitting on the shelf for a while and the plastic shield was riped or had a hole in it letting in moisture causing the rust to form. I've had this happen to me and you never notice it until your home and already have the old filter off. a real bummer. just some ideas. wouldn't hurt to have the rust ckecked to see if you can find out what kind it is and where it came from. good luck.
