H2O pump, weep/no weep

She sat 2-days, water pump weeped, a spot. Drove her, weeping stopped. Ideas? Got a new Cummins h2o pump. What y'all think bout treating the new gasket with silicon (as used on weather stripping preservation) before installing?

I have had good luck over the years coating both sides of the gasket with wheel bearing grease, wont stick and it seems to help preserve the gasket. bg

DRDave, thanks for a confirming experience. Gotta change out coolant in 8K anyway, I'll see if the new pump in the box yells out at me!

I was thinkin I’m goin to drive it till , leak steady . A year and same as 1st time I saw it a dampness leak then nothing , dampness a small drip then nothing . Never had to add a drop of coolant in over a year of this leak/no leak. Good Luck watch the coolant level and have fun , be safe .
