2003 Service Manual said:Use of propylene-glycol can result in boil-over or freeze-up on a cooling system designed for ethylene-glycol. Propylene glycol also has poorer heat transfer characteristics than ethylene glycol. This can increase cylinder head temperatures under certain conditions.
This article mentions that ethylene glycol has better heat transfer properties but in table 2 it looks like the flow increase vs water is greater than that required for the propylene glycol and that doesn't make sense to me.
