the guy said my wheels weren't the right size??

i have michelin 265-75-16 tires. that's what came on it when i bought it used. i bought new ones (same size) and went to get them rotated today. the guy said that the rims (stock) are for the 245-75-16. they are 6. 5" (inside bead to inside bead) and that they should be at least 7. 0" for the 265 tires... ... .

comments appreciated. thanks. scott.

Your truck new came with 245-75-16 tires on it. I wouldn't think going up 1 tire size would hurt. I would just watch your tire wear. Jeff

The guys full of ????, your fine with that tire size. You should of asked this guy if he knew when the world was created, sounds like he knows everything else.

The recommended wheel for the 265 is a 7". The 265 will work just fine on a 6. 5", even a 6". It will also be fine on a 8" wheel.

Your tire guy sounds like one of those that will either try to scare you into a sale, or just is so anal he is annoying.

I am running 285's on stock 6. 5" wheels identical to yours and they work great, wear is flat as can be and no problems whatsoever.

ok, ok... ... . i was just checking. he just said that the the 7" was recommended for the 265's. i won't worry about it now. i have new tires on and a little worried about wear... i am rotating every 5000 miles... ... .

thanks. scott.

He's trying to up-sell you rims. There are a lot of us that have 285 on stock rims. If he could have convinced you to go with the bigger tires with bigger rims, his commission check would have been a bit bigger:cool: ... ... . and your wallet thinner. :(

Steve

I've seen a couple of trucks with 315's on the stock 6. 5" wheels! Not that I would recommend it, but there is latitude vs. the "recommended" rim size for a tire.
