I had an interesting experience last wednesday, we have 9 brand new Chevy cutaway tour vans with Duramax's. Well, the dealer was driving one of them back to his lot for some prep work when he runs out of diesel, so my boss asks me to go out to him with our service truck and give him some fuel. Well long story short, I had to figure out how to prime a Duramax right there in the middle of traffic. NOT fun! I have minor burns on both my hands from the extremely hot intercooler tube that runs right along the side of the fuel filter(hot from engine heat). The prime button is on the top of the filter assembly, so it's so convinient to rest your hand on the tube while pumping. So there I am, nearly getting my a$$ clipped by every car and truck coming around the corner because I had to stand on the bumper of the van (hood swings forward like a big rig) to prime the filter, I'm sweatin like a pig in the lovely 90 degree high humid Hawaiian weather, burnin my hand, pumpin about 3-400 times, all for a Duramax! Well I guess I did my good deed of the day cuz I finally got it started again! The diesel gods will be pleased. All I was thinking was "Why couldn't this have been a Cummins? At least I'd be enjoying this torture".
