I took my Hadley Ambassadors out of my 94 to put into my 03. I can't find enoguh space anywhere. Have any of you installed the Ambassadors in your 03-04?

It depends on which specific type. If you have the large rectangular horns, then I don't know of any place (except maybe along the frame rails under the bed). However, I have two round horns, 19" and 22", that I managed to stuff underneath the air box on the passenger-side inner fender:

Those are the Bullies. That location is pretty much where I threaded them through on my 94, aiming toward the pavement in front of the truck. The Ambassadors are much bigger (with the rectangular bells). I test fitted them tonight tied to the fron sway bar and protruding below the stock spoiler. If none of the steering components hit them tommorrow, I'll notch the spoiler to raise them up just under the bumper. They were too long for a straight mount, so I have them angled out toward the sides.

No, they're not. The Bully horns are much smaller (and weaker-sounding) - the long horn is only 15". These are part of the Hadley Ambassador line - they're two individual horns, where the Bullies are mounted to a single pedestal. Ambassador really refers to the entire kit, and come in both round and rectangular styles. I ordered the horns separately, as I had my own compressed air source.

And what you're running into is exactly why I went with the dual round bells - as opposed to the rectangular horns I've put on my other trucks (those were all roof-mounted).

Thanks for the education! But I'm stuck with what I've got so I'm determined to make the best of it. If the guy who straightened musical instruments is still around and kicking, I'll ask him if he can bend the horns without kinking them. I even thought of mounting them sideways behind the fron bumper and using copper elbows to turn the bells toward the front.

Tom, where's your compressor location?

Tom, I mounted my horns (temporarily) and my tank (behind the front bumper). Where did you put your compressor?

I gave that some serious thought, as well as mounting them between the tube steps and the rockers. But decided against having the output of the horns that close to the passenger compartment. These Ambassadors are LOUD! I'm happy with the way the horns are mounted, but still can't find space for the compressor. :(

Did you run a line out the outside of the truck anywhere for hooking up your tire filler?
It's a bit more than a tire filler :) There's a 3/8" air line that runs to the rear of the truck, where a 1/4" female quick connect is mounted on the receiver hitch. I carry a 25' coiled air line, which runs a pneumatic bottle jack, 1/2" impact gun, air hammer (sometimes you just need to beat the snot out of something :)), and of course the air chuck.

You must be running a bigger tank than the one that came with mine. Mine also came with a direct drive compressor even though the picture shows a belt drive compressor. The receiver hitch area sounds like a good place for the quick disconnect. Hadn't thought of that. Had it under the hood on my 94.

The mounting of the Ambassadors to the front sway bar worked. The bells protrude out from under the front bumper where I slotted the air dam for them to poke through. My wife says it adds to the trucks intimidating look. But the sound is what's really intimidating. And I really feel no guilt when I cause a youngster to wet his pants when he jerks his crushable car into my stopping distance.

I'm considering adding a bigger tank to the setup - maybe a propane tank. That would give me enough volume for short term air-tool operation. The onlyy thing that worries me is that the compressor already gets mighty hot just filling up an e-rated tire!

Yeah, that little direct drive compressor isn't rated for the long duty cycle it would take to fill a 20lb. LP tank.

With the horns mounted to the sway bar, what's going to happen to them during suspension travel, when the sway bar rotates?

-Tom

nothing. they are mounted using a giant wire tie. It is nylon and acts like a lubricated bushing as the sway bar makes it's rotation (whuich is minimal).
