Hi All,

Pondering the purchase of an '06 and with the 6 speed I cannot find a decent mounting location. Has anybody tried to mount the Ham (in my case) underneath the radio in the little cubbie, or below the A/C in the larger cubbie? Any input is great!

I mounted my dual band Kenwood TM-G707 on a flexible stalk mount attached to the base of the drivers seat. The TM-G707 has the feature of being able to mount the main box anywhere ( mine is mounted under the drivers seat) and then mount the control head where you need it. You can see what I mean in the following:

The control head should be small enough to mount in most cubby holes in the dash... ;)

Different setup, different year - but maybe different options will help. This works well with detachable faceplate radios - the main box and 600 watt solid state amp are under the center seat console and passenger seat.

Having the faceplate and operating controls up closer to the line of vision and easy reach is a BIG plus!

Thanks for the pics... Good idea with the removable faceplate... I will look into that.

On my little Samurai I have a little Yaesu which would also fit in either cubbie of the 2006 and am curious if there is anything behind these cubbies that would prevent this mount. Of course, there is a heat factor involved as well as accessiblity, and thus I will probably look into the faceplate models you all suggest.

Thanks!

The hvac is directly behind the lower cubbie (SLT model). The upper cubbie hole has room unless you have the navigation.

wcjp,

Thanks... that was what I was looking for. Sounds like the top cubbie is the option but it will be difficult to fit a Ham in that one. Thanks all...
