I called. Them and others. For auto trans only. NOW I did talk to a guy at RPM Enterprizes. They sell a electronic kit for the FORD 7. 3/6. 0. HE says this has been in his thoughts also. He says HE thinks the Ford 7. 3 electronic high idle kit might work fined on DODGE/6 speeds and older models. The info he needs is about wiring(i'm not to good at that)He needs to know VOLTAGE and where wires are that come/go to ECM from foot feed. Said ONE ought to be a 5 volt feed, one ought to be a ground, one ought to be a signal return(validation)said usually just THREE wires but could be five. Have I made any sense or am I off in left field. They make and sell high idle kits for the G. M. trucks also. Were the ones left out. Any assistance on this?I think he needs a diagram of where and color etc.

I think a cable is the easiest way.

There was andvertisement in an old TDR mag that was called throttle commander. I called them back then and it was actually a Governed increase so you could use it for running a pto or some other task when you didnt want the engine to be drug down by a load. you could also have used it just for a high idle as it doesnt matter that that is governed or not. Seems like it was big money though

I said forget it and rigged up a cable and a turnbuckle and it works great

i tied to the pedal linkage so it pulls the pedal down when you tighten the turnbuckle. It has worked flawlessly for years. The turn buckle will strip out afetr awhile, i have never greased them or anything. I just got to the hardware store and buy another for like $2

when I get in a situation where i need to come off throttle(using it a cruise control) I just clutch it and then back off the turnbukle. I got 26. 5 MPG going 55 MPH to La once

It works great for high Idle. I went camping with my kids in the truck camper and we had furnace trouble so I cranked it up to 1500 RPM and let the truck heat the camper til we were ready to sleep.

It prob the best mod i have done

Let me just throw this out just in case one of the Chip Guys picks up on it. The easiest way is going to be to use the Cruise Control. I think at one time that I heard there was a TSB or something on one of the earlier models that had this as a feature.

Anyway, the only reason that it won't work the way it is, is that there are several defeats involved, like transmission not in gear, parking brake on, etc. These are all sensor signals to the ECM. With a little code change or the right amount of experience knowing what is involved it could be done.

All you would have to do is kick up the RPM to where you wanted, turn on the cruise, and push the set. It wouldn't move until the tank is empty!

Its the LATE models(04. 5 and 05)that have this. There isd a TSB on it. For Automatic only. Including some aftermarket items. will not work on 6 speeds or earlier(03 and below)
