The Warthog/P10 is on my wish list for a carry weapon, so I'm glad to hear you say such good things about it. I got my hands on one yesterday, and the grip is a bit short and fat, but the mag extension helps the short part, at least.

If you like that one, check out the Para Carry 6. 45... the smallest single-stack 45 made today. That is my preferred carry pistol, you barely even know you have it on. Shoots extremely well, too! I'm preferential to the Paras as I like their Power extractor and reliability. The Carry model also has a much smaller beavertail which is much nicer for concealed carry as well.

Ah, hell, add to my wish list, why don't you? :-laf

I've thinned my collection down to mostly two handguns, 1911s and Glocks. I have a Colt, two STIs and an Ed Brown and I like them all however you have to be prepared for some quirks with a 1911 or 2011 as STI calls theirs. As a hunting backup gun I would not rely on the 45ACP cartridge. Glocks are combat accurate and WILL fire when you pull the trigger. If CCW is not in your future and you have a big enough hand I would go with a Glock 20 in 10mm. The Glock 23 is my second choice. I like the same trigger pull every time which I why I got rid of most of my double action autos like Sigs, and Smith performance center models.

I carried a 1911 military piece back in the 70s and it left a lot to be desired in the accuracy department.

Thanks, RJR

You must have been serving with everybody's favorite Uncle. The were built that way with a loose barrel bushing so they go bang even when coated with mud, sand or snow. But they always went bang. The barrel bushing was so loose you could remove it with your fingers. The civilian models you need a bushing wrench to get it off making them very accurate. With the military models nobody cared if you didn't hit them in the ten ring just hitting them was what was important. They weren't target range accurate but deadly and reliable. Try one today I think you'll find it much different. BTW Uncle let me use one his from 67-69.

Depends

On what you`re doing with it. A 45 will drop anyone unlucky enough to get hit most anywhere from the ankles on up. When out in the hills, I`m packing a 7 1/2 inch Super Blackhawk 44mag. Funny thing ,neither is my favorite handgun. They just both work well at their appointed tasks. Favorite pistol is a 1955 S&W 45ACP revolver. I just love full moon clips! DK

point to remember for accuracy especially shooting a heavier chunk of lead like 45 cal is the technical part of the gun. Look at the number of twists per inch in the barrel. The more twists per inch makes heavier lead shoot more accurate. If shopping for accuracy in any gun especially the bigger calibers this is an important thing to remember.
