Hi guys,

Since I believe that some of you here have a bit more experience in dealing with dealers, I need your opinion.

I originally order my 04. 5 CTD with custom options from the dealer on 5/18/04. The truck was being sold at invoice and I would still be getting the rebate. On 5/19/04 the dealer called to tell me that the limited slip rear was no longer available and showed me several invoices for trucks that were "being shipped" to his location within 2 weeks. One of these was identical to the truck I ordered. Since this truck was "ordered" by the dealership they quoted me 3% over invoice ($ 1091 xtra). I put the deposit down. The dealer said 2 weeks which will be 6/2/04.

Now after following up links you have here. The original order was accutally accepted by DC. So now the dealer has 2 idenitical trucks coming. One showing sold to me (at invoice) and the second (at more $$). What should I do? I have not confronted the dealer yet. I was waiting till 6/2/04 the "delivered by" date. Should I demand the lower price? I want the truck, it's perfect for me. Or am I committed since I signed off on the invoice of the 2nd vehicle. Interesting he threw out all the old info, I on the other hand did not.

DC customer service said both orders were placed on the same day and went D1 on 5/21/04. They both are scheduled for plant release on 6/2/04. Any suggestions?? I'm truely annoyed and it's not like this package can be ordered anywhere else right now, nor is this package available elsewhere.

Sorry this is so long, but I need ya'lls educated opinions and suggestions.

When did you give him the deposit? From your post ,it seems lie the deposit was for the second truck. If that is so, then why did you not need a deposit for the first truck?

I would go to any dodge lot and get a telephone number for customer satisfaction and tell them about this. This also sounds like a ''bait and switch'' with the dealer giving you a truck with limited slip after switching you away from the limited slip ''no longer available '' How can the limited slip be available on one truck and not another? 9ordered on the same date]

I notice that you did not release the dealer's name. Use this to your advantage. Tell him that if he cannot give you your deposit back or give you the original deal back, then your 20,000 brothers on this website may have some interest in the tactics that he used on you-- they can make up their own minds whether he deserves their business.

Print this thread and have him read it! That ought to get things rollin'

I had given a $1000 deposit for the orginial order, he held it till the Regional Manager "validated the order" on the next business day.

I'm figuring I have a few options, especially since he has NO idea that i know and have called DC several times to validate the orders and check the options on each.

#1) Original deal back

#2) Dealer options to offset difference in cost.

I don't want to leave the dealer entirely as believe it or not, this is one of the best in the area. I checked out 12 dealers in the tri county area of south florida.

If what your saying is accurate you should demand your original deal or walk, and then let DC know what happened... Don't let your desire to "get this truck" overshadow the obvious "bait and switch" this dealer is trying to pull...
