I need some help with improving my truck's handling. The first thing I need to address is getting the dealer to fix the steering box. I tried complaining about steering wander and was told "they all drive like that, it's just a heavy duty truck. " That's a bunch of crap. Next I'll try the "excessive play" thing, but if that doesnt get it I will probably have to pay for it as my warranty is almost up. Any input on aftermarket steering boxes etc... ? Also, does anyone other than rancho make a steering stabilizer? I'm also considering blisten shocks and a sway bar in back. Any thoughts? Will I notice improvements worth the money? I'm tired of driving a nice engine in a sloppy piece of expensive..... Thanks in advance

First off, if I were to explain all of the tricks I have heard about fixing the steering on these trucks, I would be here all night. You should do a couple searches with different keywords, you will find tsbs, tricks, and parts. as for the box itself, i've heard good things about the agr parts. Before you do this, make sure every! joint in the front end has very little or no play. Compare them all, I think there are about 5 of these joints in the front end. I am in the process of putting in lukes links, and then the box if i need to.

Good Luck.

Good luck you guys on finding a cure. These trucks dont have to drive like that. I had a 96 with a whole bunch of miles on it and my 97 has 140,000 and both drove rock solid like a dream. So dont give up they dont have to be that way.
