If not there yet... this may be coming your way... . if not you may drive in areas where this is the law---and no they don't allow you any breaks if you're from a state that allows you to still use your cell phone while driving...

Now in Oregon, using a cell phone is a primary traffic violation... meaning the Police can write you a healthy ticket for driving and using a cell phone without a hands free device... . In Washington,,,it's a secondary one.

OK - I hated those ear gadgets... . and couldn't stand not being able to hear my radio (AM) and still be legal when a Cell Phone call comes in.....

THIS Unit solves that..... It is fantastic..... I mean there is a mounted actual FREAKING WORKING MICROPHONE ... that I mounted by my A Pillar Gauges..... and everything is controlled through the radio..... the User Manual while very complete, can be maddening - BUT once you figure it out..... you're set.

It does shut off the radio and allows volume through your speakers... I Can actually HEAR the FREAKING THING!!!!!

Pioneer USA - DEH-P7100BT - CD Receiver with Full Motion OEL Display, Built-In Bluetooth and USB Direct Control of iPod

I purchased a Bluetooth one from Radio S**t - - -It hangs on the visor - - microphone pops out to turn on then a push button to turn on and another to turn off has volume control and charging cord the plugs into the cig lighter, I'm supprised that for $89. 00 it works real well. Bought it when the law was changing the next day while we were in Philly, with the idea of getting a good one when we had time to look aroud, now find no reason to change

I have a VR3 mirror Bluetooth. Has speaker as well as an ear one that clips on the side of the mirror which keeps it charged. When you remove it from the mirror it automatically switches from speaker to ear. Also has 4 fm stations that can be used to play thru fm radio. Seems to work well so far. 100. 00 $ in canada.

I've got a Pioneer EVIC nav radio. It came with the visor mic. I mounted it in next to the top gauge on the pillar and it doesn't work worth crap. I have to be about 2 inches away yelling for either the phone or voice activated nav feature to work. I have to find a better replacement.

CAUTION! Old man (OK gittin thar) spouting off. Had a visor mike for my Sprint cell phone—cell was good, hands free NOT! Our trucks have WAY too much ambient noise for a cabin-miking system to work well. I can just imagine my wifes U-connect (Jeep Commander) in MY truck!! Our trucks are almost like the cockpit of a jet fighter, where they use…helmet mikes!! (Whoever is actually got their jet wings, jump in). I figure if it works for them it can work for me (my traffic is alot closer but then—I not doin 600 knots!!!). Bottom line - for me the weenie earpiece thingy (a good one) works. It's almost like my racing helmet system…without the helmet (for now:eek:). Now…about that heads-up display thingy!!!:-laf
