Well, had the little woman race me in her new truck. Needless to say the Beast got taken. How embarrasing, even though I'm toting quite a bit more weight I thought I would give a better showing with my mods. This brings me back to thinking I got a dud from the factory. Or maybe a I just need a new turbo. :D

Guess I'll have to devote my energies into building the new Ram now. With as quick as the Beast is, I can only imagine what some of you light weights are experiencing with the built trucks. I was going to build it similar to mine but now I'm thinking Gauges, EZ and Exhaust might just do the trick as we aren't planning on racing it.

FYI, picked up the new one in Texas an saved a bundle over California prices. Was one heck of a road trip too. If you think Texas is big on a map, try driving across it. Took 3 tanks of gas from Central Texas to El paso. 1½ tanks the rest of the way to San Diego. The trip only cost $200 more than a courtesy delivery and got a good break in on the truck.

Don't be so ashamed man! Your truck looks heavy with all that weight on it. It probably weighs 2000# more than hers... at least. But women are like men, they never let you live it down, so let her have her fun... for now... BOMB away!

Big White,

I have a good idea how much you saved. I lived in Las Vegas for a year and a half while working at Nevada Test Site. I was getting ready to quit my job and thought I would buy a new truck. Well, Las Vegas dealers do something I had never seen before. They add a dealer mark-up on top of sticker price that is from $3K to $5K. When you attempt to negotiate your purchase price, you start at their price. I couldn't even get them down to sticker price. Needless to say, I came home to buy my truck and, like you, saved thousands. Glad you got a good deal and enjoyed your trip.

When buying a new vehicle, forget the sticker price. Negociate(sp) from the dealer invoice. I bought mine for $149 over invoice + dealer prep and handling. Some members have done better than that. Note that the dealer invoice includes local advertising costs that they must pay, and so do you.
