Hankook MT's

Anyone who is considering the new hankook E rated 35" MT's I would advise you stay away from them.



I have had mine on for 2 days and I'm going to switch them out for the Swamper Truxus MT's on my jeep. The hankook's are VERY squirley. Saw the wheel back and forth and it's all over the place. I was going into a corner on the highway and had to correct my turn because the tires flexed so much when starting the turn.



BTW: they are made in China

Could you possibly see if they would get you another set? Maybe you got some bad tires? It happens to even the best of manufacturers.



I work with a man who has a 93 4x4 1-ton club cab. He farms a good amount, and hauls heavy equipment & hay and those are the tires he runs on his truck. Not sure how many sets he's had, but the set on there now are at about 1/2 tread and I swear I don't think they've worn since I started working with him.

I've got the MT RTO3's which are a fairly new tire, they had an older design MT also. I don't think there is anything wrong w/ the tires, just the design.

It was merely the fact that they were used to driving around on their worn out tires and after installing new tires with full tread the truck was a bit squirrely until they got some mileage and wear on the tires. Changing the air pressure can help with tread squirm too.

The BFG MT's I had were not like this when they were new, they had some squirm compared to the stock tires but not like these tires have.

Huh, mine are still not mounted... I'll have to report when mine are. Mine are the 315s, so they might be worse being D rated instead of E ... I'll have to find out!

I can't tell for sure, but I think it's more tread squirm instead of the sidewall flexing.

I don't know what might be wrong with your tires, but I am not having the same experience. I went from the TrXus to the the 35" E rated Hankooks, and I have not noticed the instability you speak of. In fact the Hankooks would seem to be a much better tire. They took much less weight to balance and do not vibrate at highway speed (the TrXus would vibrate no matter how many times I had them balanced). The TrXus wore VERY quickly, and cupped very quickly. But I don't have enough evidence to say it was the tires or Discount never getting the balance right. I hope the TrXus do better on your truck - I did like they way they performed off-road.

i hated my trxus m/t's for the first hour or so, they were squirrely, but then i put 65 psi in them and loved them, not a squirm, i kept 65-70 psi in them for 45,000 miles under heavy pulling , i had the bfg m/t's and they got bubbles in the sidewalls after 10,000mi. , not made for the weight, but i trust the trxus's i've weighed 37,000lbs towing, and thats a single rear wheel truck with the 35x12. 50's on it, i'm putting some on my dually this winter...

To update, they are going to check them for being out of round balance, etc. one more time to see if any of them warrant replacing, which the place I bought them from said they would do if any of them seem bad.



The tread squirm is still unacceptable to me, but I'm going to wait until they are checked out and possible replaced before I consider swapping them to my jeep.

I would be willing to wager a soft drink of your choice, but they are built in South Korea. I saw numerous factories while living there.

19.5" Hankooks

My 245 70 19. 5 Hankooks handle great! They are quick and I can see where someone not used to tires working like that might call them squirrelly, but they are so far superior to the OEMs that I would never go back. Part of the issue (I wouldn't call it a problem) could be the single-ply steel sidewall, which I have on my tires. Can't say about yours. I love mine but haven't had 'em long enough to say much more about 'em. Well, that's not quite true ... I'm thinking about takin' 'em to bed with me tonight. Hee!
