Look what I got on my birthday! :-laf :-laf

Good job, Denver Offroad The bumper looks awesome. Absolutely top notch workmanship. Makes my rear bumper look like a bunch of amateurs built it. The crate is almost as nice as the bumper. The lid did not survive the tender loving care of the trucking company, though. It was a chore getting that thing off my truck by myself too.

Anyway, going to install it on Sunday which means come Monday I will have available everything somebody needs to turn their truck into a Sport - front and rear bumper and grill. Probably would look best on a silver truck. ;)

Now that's how you're supposed to ship a bumper. I sure wish the people at Rough Country could see that picture. They shipped my running boards wrapped in cardboard paper, and not even the whole assembly either! The mounting points stuck out with no protection, and now have no powder coating on them. I'm sure the Ohio winters and prodigious amounts of salt will not be kind. Oh, Happy Birthday Alex. For my birthday, a few days ago, I put a new rear bumper on my truck! I'm interested in that Denver bumper, it looks like it'll go good with the my boards and rear bumper. How much does that weigh?

I know what you mean. Once I ordered a hitch and it came wrapped in nothing at all. It was so gouged by the time I got it that I had to repaint it before putting it on the truck. In this crate there are a couple of steel mounts bolted to the floor and onto which the bumper is mounted to keep it off the floor and from moving around within the crate. I was pretty impressed with that.

Not impressed with the trucking company. It was specified as an item onto which nothing else was to be stacked but they did anyway and pretty much destroyed the lid. Didn't scratch the bumper at least but because of that, when they forgot to ask me for the COD shipping cost, I forgot to remind them. :-laf :-laf It was supposed to be 180$ for shipping from Denver to the terminal in Salinas. The crate was $100 but worth it I reckon.

That bumper is aluminum and it should be right around 200 lbs. I'll try to weigh it somehow when I get it out of the crate.

Anybody interested in the Sport parts should PM me. I don't really know what a fair price would be for those items. Will listen...

You will enjoy that bumper. I have had mine for about 125k now and it still looks pretty darn good. I have a 2nd gen bumper and it weighs in at 135lbs. I had Layne build me a lower valance for it like he has available for the 3rd gens so it is a bit more than that now.

If you havent taken the original off yet you will be suprised (well probably not really) what a cheap pos it is and will no longer wonder why they fold up like tin foil when hit by anything.

I haven't taken off the front one yet but I have the rear one here and I can carry it around with one hand. It weighs 36 pounds. I call that decorative trim, not a bumper.

DOR is an old skool company and doesn't have a website. :-laf

Bumper is 1550. Valence (which you can't see in the pic and which BarryG mentions) is optional at 250 but really finishes it off nicely. Light holes are optional at 250. That puts it in the same neighborhood more-or-less as a Buckstop.

Ol' Trail Dog: it was your thread and pics that you posted on here that resulted in me even knowing about DOR. I'm glad you put those up because I really was not finding anything I liked up to that point.

Just finished installing it a couple hours ago. I couldn't wait till Sunday. :-laf :-laf

Took me over an hour this morning just to break down that crate and get the thing out in the open.

The thing is just awesome man. Looks even better than I thought it would and I thought it would look great. I just can't say enough about how well done it is. That guy takes pride in his work and it shows.

Anyway, I'm stoked. The thing looks like a proper truck now. I'll post pics tomorrow. And I do believe I am done with mods now. Almost. :-laf :-laf :-laf

Edit: oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the stock front bumper weighs 52 pounds. You can carry that around with one hand as well. The mounting brackets, bolts, and tow hooks weigh 32 pounds. And a thousand curses on whoever decided on the direction in which the mounting bolts go through the frame rails. I ended up cutting the *******s off.

Alex... I ordered mine right after you did and it will be polished instead of painted to work with my aluminum flatbed. I like the fog light holes and am going to call Lance and add those. I have the lights so may as well use em..... or... . use the wiring to add some lights to the bar or ???? George

AlexWV,

All I can say is it looks freakin awesome!!!! Oo. :--) :--) Oo.

That makes two of us. :) Actually, it makes a lot more than two of us, the thing is a real head turner, was getting lots of looks today when I was out and about.

Company is in Fruita, CO. Call Layne at 970-858-4010, tell him you saw "California Alex's" bumper on TDR.

George: as far as the light holes, I'd say get them. I'm going to add some driving lights to the light bar as well.

That has got to be the best looking bumper for our trucks, period. How much does it weigh with the valence, and how long did it take to get it? I am looking for a real bumper that not add too much weight to the front end.

The valance really gives the rig a finished look. I had a DOR on my '01 and my only complaint was that you could see much of the undercarriage. Might have to start saving my pennies.
