That's scary.... I have two sets of Sears 3ton jack stands for 40 years and my 6 each 12 ton ones that hold my 21K lb 5er have safety slide bars.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers, Ron

Oh these never been out of the box, picked them up to have at the shop just in case, tag say 6/2017.

Hate to say it but its pretty hard to buy something on a weekend around here, I'm all in on USA made stuff, we just dont have local access to it by me. Guess I can order some up.

2 sets, I wonder what I have at the house, I know my 12 Ton are HF, guess those should be suspect.

If they are part of the recall I'd personally return them on principle alone. Make them pay for their ignorance.
My stands are not included in the recall so I will be keeping them but I will be ordering a different style (and brand) to use on critical jobs. I always keep a jack under the side I am working on for redundancy anyway.

One thing you can do for a feel good effect is measure the delta between the pawl and the riser. My particular stands are good and tight at 1/2"- 5/8" of potential engagement - IOW regardless of the teeth depth - they can not possibly slip - but I've seen some others that are loose cannons right out of the box.

I guess there are 2 threads on this, I posted this in the other thread and will drop it here for awareness..

Soooo.....I have a set of these 6 ton stands. I used them when I was switching my 19.5's and centramatics from the 2001 to 2015. Normally I keep the hydraulic jack under the axle as safety backup but just this once I forgot and left it under the 2001. Well, when I am mounting tires (especially the 19.5s) I put my knees front and back of the tire so I can easily lift them up a few inches to mount. Guess what? Jack stand dropped, my right leg was not completely under the tire but it came down on a good portion of my calf holy #%&*! I have been in a lot of pain various times in my life, this hurt! Luckily my son was there and he put his shoulder into the bumper in a panic and nudged the truck forward just enough for me to get my leg free. Thought it was broken for sure, even with the adrenaline I could not stand up and put ANY weight on it. Swole up and turned black and blue quick. Was about 2 weeks before I could walk without a limp but thankfully healed up

Yeah we both had the best intentions on the post and were a few minutes apart.

But wow close call for sure.

Thats super scary.

Wow, what are the odds. I saw yours later in the day but didn't take notice on the time. Like you I just wanted to get the word out, that's all that matters.

And odds are they both won't get kicked to the political section....:)

Thank you both for posting. I am not complaining about two posts on the subject, just pointing it out as to why I am re posting.

I stated earlier about jack stands from Sam's Club. Might be 15 to 20 years ago and they have locking pins. Nowhere do I see anything about a Country other than Ca. on a sticker. They are very robust stands tho.

Chinesium and indinisium are the worst products known to man and we still buy them at record pace. My dad will take a broken tool back to harbor freight and get the SAME THING as a replacement because “it’s a good deal”. This hammer was used exactly ONE time and broke.
