Preparing for a trip I needed to perform some preventive Mx on my 48RE. So I adjusted the forward and rear bands on and replaced the governor transducer and solenoid; everything runs fine but now the truck downshifts hard from second gear to first gear when it hits around 10-15 miles an hour. I have readjusted the band per TDR write ups in the forum three times and this downshift "bump" still occurs.

So my question is this normal? Is there a "wear in" period? Should I be concerned?

Try loosening the TV cable adjustment at the bell crank under the hood. With the new gov solenoid and transducer you may have too much TV pressure in it for a smooth downshift.

TV cable was fine, but broke the darn plastic clip removing it. Any ideas on a part number for this puppy? Trans still downshifts hard, but only at slow speeds....sure wish it would stop but I guess it will have to wait; I have a trip to Florida coming next week. Thanks for your input cerb :)

That because off the throttle it is putting to much TV pressure into the transmission. The plastic clip is part of the cable, need a new TV cable.

Mine shifts also a little harsh 2>1 since installation of the Shiftkit, but I don't care about it because it's only slow speed and close to zero throttle, so I think it won't hurt anything.
