truck in sig. have redline in. had new ofe installed 6weeks ago. just replaced hydrolics for the clutch. when i come to a stop i shift to nuetral and sit. when its time to go i try to shift into 1st or 2nd and its very hard to get into gear lately. reverse is the same with the occational grind if i rush things. since everything clutchwise is new, i am wondering if the transmission is just too worn. should i look into a rebuild? would adding an extra quart of oil help or should i worry about leaking through seals or other adverse effects. any and all suggestions greatly appriciated. thanks

could have some air in the clutch hyd system. at our shop we have found that bench bleeding the system is the best way to get all the air out of the system. also if the pilot bushing / bearing was changed it might not be in the proper position, causes the input to turn with the clutch released. just a couple of ideas. good luck.

talking to a few shops i suspected air as the issue. thats why i replaced the hydrolic system. i had a professional shop do the clutch and i know for a fact the the guy who installed mine has done several southbends. i may give him a call too see what he says.

FWIW. How long has the trans fluid been in there? I've used the redline mt fluid for 20,000 miles and started having problems when shifting. Changed to the new Amsoil fluid that is the replacement for the Castrol fluid and all problems have been resolved. - well the shifting problems at least!

fluid has only been there for about 8-10k. ill probably change it out in about 2k(next oil change). i tried to call peter at SBC but could get ahold of him. ill try tommarow and see what he says. what about over filling the transmission. ive heard of ppl doing this on the 6spd but what about the 5? thanks

hey bob, what happed to the old truck. i tried to fallow up on it but couldnt find the thread.

Generaly, if it is hard to get INTO gear it is a clutch / piliot bearing problem. how does it shift after you are moving?

The old truck has a new family in the SE porland area, they should be online soon on the nwbombers and here, they are taking great care of it, I seen it a few weeks ago and it looked the best it ever has. So far I really like the '05, best truck (stock) I ever had, still glad I moved up.

glad to see it went to someone who will appreciate it. i was close to moving up to a 3rd gen but just cant afford it right now. besides, then i would get to spend as much time under it as my 97 :-laf .

shifts slower than before. also if im in stop and go traffic in 2nd gear and go to shift to N it takes alot of effort about half the time.
