Ok, I have a little problem with the auto transmission on my 2007. 5. After ideling over 10min or pulling a load for a short period of time the unit will shift very hard into drive. (so hard that you can not hold it with the break and it will move foward about two inches). Now the problem is that if you kill and restart the unit it will not do it again. Of course the dealer thinks that I am crazy even after showing them mutiple times that it is not fixed and mutiple dealers. I dont know what to do, it does not throw any codes, and I love the truck, but with 25K on it, I am getting a little concerned. Also, I dont know if it has anything to do with my problem, but 4WL will not come out, so you have to kill the truck to get it out of 4WL. Any advice would be great. Thanks for your help.

It sounds like the converter clutch is starting to lock up at idle or the stator is starting to seize in the converter. The dealer can watch the internal shaft speeds with the StarScan when it is acting up.

Ok, finally convienced the dealer that there was a problem, and sure enought all of the clutches were burnt in the transmission, when they took it out. They put it back in, after some soo called re-build kit and it works really well in reverse, and that is about it. At least when I took it to them it would go down the road. I really want it replaced, but we all know that it not going to happen, they have had my truck for 3. 5 weeks now and still no fix insight, please tell me what I can do. Thanks for all of your help this far.

over a month now and still have no truck. Is there a number that I can call or something. They are telloing me that the transmission is fixed, they just are unable to get a air bag light off now. I know they are lying to my trying to buy them some time. They have given me a diesel loaner with a hitch in the back so I have been using the crap out of there truck. I really don't know what else to do. The are also telling me that they are waiting on new equipment because they do not have the right stuff to fix my truck. Who know, any advice? As soon as this thing gets out of the shop, it might be time to do the unthinkable. Please let me know what I can do. Thanks guys

I'm thinking you are close to a lemon law case aren't you?

How many times has it been to them?

A month without my truck and I would be getting a bit upset.

Go see a lawyer that specializes in the lemon-law procedure for wherever you live. He'll probably listen to you and advise you if you have a case or not for no charge.

Very few folks take us "normal" citizens seriously, but for some odd reason they miraculously figure out how to solve problems and become very attentive once they get contacted by a lawyer on your behalf.

It's a shame, but that's how it works.

Good Luck,
Mike

Just as a update... STILL NO TRUCK. Is there not some way I can get a hold of dodge? People talk about this STAR line what is that?

See my reply above. You'll be amazed at how quickly your issue gets resolved if a lawyer contacts them on your behalf. Sad and annoying but true.

You're not likely to get very far threatening Dodge with a lawyer with the alterations you claim in your signature. Do you really think the dealer service department staff have not noticed you've removed all the emissions equipment and added a "black box?"

If the transmission or engine is trashed I'd plan on getting my wallet or credit card out.

The warnings have been posted here 100 times. . . when you alter a truck, experience problems, and then attempt to force a dealer to repair it and Dodge to pay for it you are very likely to become disappointed.

Ok, HBarlow caught what I missed. I didn't look closely enough at the signature on your first post, ignore what I said. You're on your own with all the mods you did.

You would be surprised at the fantastic service you can get at a dealership that is not swamped ... . if you can find one and let the service manager know that you have /had several dodge diesels and that this one is having some problems he may be willing to help you.

Well all the mods were put back to stock before I took the truck in for mikel.

Now it has been over a month and I got the truck back... . for one day then it went right back into the shop... . check engine light and transmission still not right. I am getting it back today... . we will see. My question now is prob not a good one but it is the only thing i see fit to do. They completely went threw my transmission and replaced mutiple clutches and the torque converter. The transmission is not the same. I tried to get a new one but they would not go for that. Please give me some advice on the issue. The dealer told me they were working for Dodge and they only had to patch it together for another 10k Then I was on my own and they would be glad to put a new one in for me if I payed for it. Basically they could out last me.

Sounds like your crazy. Just my . 02 ... ... . But I'm Crazy as hell for putting up with my P. O. S. for as long as I have. Honestly if you want to totally screw it up start a lawn care business and allow one of your employees to drive it ..... first you need to loan him some money. See I told you I was CRAZY.

about the warrent. i still have a good warrent i bought all sensors and bungs from dodge and made mine a true a plug and play that way i could replace everything back to factory and they know none the lesser. yeah it takes a little time but i have a warrenty and a transmission that does not work.

update

ok took it out this weekend with a open mind. truck drove great as long as you dont use any e break or tow haul. once you use these fnc she gets a little hard shifting from neutral to drive. really hard when you let the e break and tow breng you all the way down. transmission is leaking fluid. now it only shifts hard into drive... . reverse is great. give it a min or two to cool down and its fine. now if u up the rpms just a bit she will go into drive smooth. they have replaced my torque converter and most of my clutches. wednesday i will try a different dealer. any ideal on whats wrong?

The only problem with the lawyer is that I have to go back over three times for the same consecutive problem. It get real technical. The best advice he honestly gave me was to keep trying to get them to replace the transmission. After our conversation he said that I could fight them, but in the end it would end up costing me more than it would be just to sell the unit and by a new one. However if I wanted to do that he would be more than glad to fight for me. So bacically I either have to put up the fight my self. Or sell the unit to someone else and screw them over. Which is not the type of guy that I am. So I will keep trying to get it fixed, he also stated since the dealer was giveing me a pickup that was equal to the pickup that I had this made the issue even more complicated. The dealer knows the law and is playing me, he had two days untill I could lemon law it with no questions asked, instead he called me and told me that it was finished when he knew that it was not. I dont know, maybe I shoudl try another one. Since I really dont need to pickup right now, I am going to try a different dealer and see what I can get done. I never thought I would have this kind of trouble with a Dogde, I love the truck I just need one that will not put you threw the dash when you put it into drive. Thanks for all of you guys help and advice

Well got off of my mad spell and took it back to the shop. I tried a different dealer, but they would not touch it, since they were not the ones that took it apart. I will keep you guys up to date on what happens. It still is not working right and the dealer said at least two weeks this time.
