I just installed 3K gov springs in a 215 hp pump and my truck is starting much harder than it did before. I think it could be the batteries of starter, but if you have any info on this please chime in, thanks.

what method did you use to retighten the spring retainer nut? clicks or revolutions?

Did the installation of the 3K springs affect your idle? That would be a key indicator that something was not right.

For instance after the installation of my 3K GSK my idle came up 50-100rpms, but didn't become harder to start... ... however I cannot hold a steady idle between 1200 and 1800RPM... . once it gets past 1200 it wants to jump straight too 2000. So I need to go back and back the nuts off one click I believe.

I'm willing to bet your spring retainer is too loose since your having a hard time starting your truck because Al @ PDR said too loose = low idle and too tight = high idle.

Give us some more info to go on though.

I adjusted the 3K's in 2 clicks, but the throttle was too touchy so I backed them out 2 clicks. I started hard at both settings. Before it idled about 900, but now it's back down around 700. When I start it cold, it runs about 300 for the first couple seconds until I idle it up a little bit. I hope this helps shine some light on the subject. Thanks.

FWIW,

Mine starts hard with the 3krpm set adjusted REALLY tight... . I had to back the idle down quite a bit with this setting and it's a bit reluctant to idle when you first start it after it has been sitting out in the harsh New England weather for a while.
