Hi guys- my first post here! I have an 06 3500 Auto 4x4 with the Dodge Remote Start. The truck starts right away every time... except when I go to park it and it's hot enough that my TST R49 Cool-Down timer takes several minutes to shut off the engine... then it takes quite a while to crank up on the next start. (In those situations the remote start doesn't usually work- I have to use the key and crank it several times before it will finally fire)

My questions to the gurus are:

*Is the R49 cool down starving the engine of fuel during the cool down so that it's drained when I go to start it again?

*Is there any possibility of damage from this?

*Does anybody else have this issue?

Thanks in advance, guys!

I don't have any answers for your problem, but if you have to go to the dealer you need to make sure the TST products are not installed on the truck or you will have your warranty voided.

I think I would call TST and ask them about it. The cool down timer is supposed to keep the lift pump running. It sounds like the lp is getting turned off with the key, and the engine continues running due to residual fuel in the CP3 and fuel filter, but it's only doing it when you use the remote start. In other words, the remote start is shutting off the lift pump when you remove the key with the cool down timer on.

I dont think its a lift pump problem personally... my 06 does it with the Juice and the cool down timer. Mine shuts off at 280* EGT's. I think the true problem is the idling for a while. These trucks dont like the idle. MY dealer tech told me not to let the idle trucks too long because the injectors start to build up carbon from the third injection pulse. THats why sometimes the truck will idle a little hard after a long idle or driving like a baby. Use some cleaner and run it through to try and clean up the injectors.

WT - I don't think it's the lift pump, either. I think it's the combination of the remote start, and the TST. I think, (just guessing here), the remote start may be tied into the lift pump, along with the TST, and when the remote start is used, it's overriding the TST's cool down circuitry, shutting off the lift pump, when the TST wants it to stay on. And then again, it's just a theory and I could be way off base. :D

TH - Let us know what you find out.

Its nothing to do with remote start... I dont have remote start and have the same problem

I'm glad to hear that at least I'm not the only one with this issue, although I'm sorry you guys have it too! It is random, and I have to admit that I never have let it idle for a significant amount of time without the cool-down, so it may have nothing to do with that timer either...

Does this worry you other guys to whom it happens at all in terms of potential damage, or is this just one of those "it is what it is" things?

Thanks again...

I'm not worried about it really at all. If it doesn't start on the first try I turn the key off for a few seconds. When I turn it back on I wait until all the lights go out before I try to start it again. Almost every time it will fire right up on the second try. This never happened before I used the tst timer.

Compaired to the low boost code the larger charger sets off this is nothing.

I have the same problem with the slow start at times. I am running the FASS fuel system and I must have it hooked to the wrong fuse because my FASS turns off with the key. I have not been using the cool down timer due to I am worried I am starving the CP3 pump while pulling through the FASS. I do not have my instructions from the FASS and was wondering if anyone new which fuse it should be on.

Thanks.
