SAME PROBLEM

I had the same problem. I also had the erratic up and down by about fifty RPM cold idle problem. Thought it was the Holley "Blue" pump I had installed. Not. The VP44 was toast. New pump from the dealer and the problem is cured. :cool:

I'll get my manual out tonight
The overflow valve is made into the stud that holds the return fuel line on to the VP-44. With it removed, it can be checked with air if you have an air pressure regulator. The valve is supposed to open at 14psig and hold at 10psig. On the fuel lines, use a small mirror and look at the return line at the rear of the head, I believe it has a plug in the front of the head in the same location, also check the tee where the return from the VP ties into the other return line. bg
