Is your intake heater grid working? You'll know by the dimming of your headlamps and interior lights and dash lights when it is cold out and you start the truck. Thats what is sounds like to me.
You may also have carbon build-up on your injectors. A tank of injector cleaner is worth a try. Do you run a fuel conditioner?
I had the white smoke on startup problem and tried the procedure on the Sea Foam can: fill the filter canister with Sea Foam, add a can to the tank and start normally. I've had the longest lasting results with that method. I have also read of members following the same procedure with Stanadyne.
I've also started treating every tank with Stanadyne or Power Service (whichever I have on hand. ) I used to only run conditioner in the winter but year-round is working for me.
