About a month ago I have noticed my truck takes a while to turn over. In the morning it is worse then if it is warm, but it still seems like it takes longer then it should. I have done a search and seams like the common causes are the fuel rail relief valve opening up or bad injectors. The TSB for white smoke and hard starts doesn't really seam to be the problem. It really feels like it is a lack of fuel problem. I didn't know if anyone had a good test prceedure for diagnosing the problem. I figue I may have to get the high pressure fuel rail guage. If you think there was a previous thread that I missed in my search please send me the link.

I have about 125k on the clock. Also, I think I have dropped MPG, but that may just be the low sulpher fuel????

Thanks,

Aaron

Thanks for the links. I am still looking of some more ideas though. I don't think I am having the same problems as some as the people in the threads. My hard starting only started about 5k miles ago. Also, it seems like it has to crank so long the batteries are draining and they are new.

Also, today the truck would not idle down below 1200 rpm when I pulled into the drive way. It wasn't a high idle because the Jake would not engage. It acted as if the gas pedle was sending signal to the throdle body. I wonder if these gremlins are related.

Thanks,

Aaron

I swear this sounds like a rail pressure relief valve. They tend to die early with pressure boxes.

That's what I was thinking. I guess I will have to dig out my Geno's catalog and order the guage for testing. BTW, I have had the box on for close to 100k. It's on 4 and 4 except when towing. I guess even burning the candle a little brighter casuses some things to burn out quicker.

Thanks,

Aaron

Just looked on-line at Geno's and couldn't fing the new high pressure guage. Anyone have a part # or source???

To properly test the fuel system you need the Miller 9011, 9012, 9013, and 9014. With those four tools you can test the entire fuel system and injectors. They are available from SPX, Miller special tools. They accept credit cards so anyone can buy them.

Use the TSB for common rail fuel system diagnosis for the complete procedure. The TSB was recently updated.
