Had trouble starting engine after sitting overnight. Took back to Cummins-NW, Anchorage as it had a recent tune-up there. They diagnosed a bad lift pump; low pressure when turning the key. It was ok at idle. They refered me to the local DC dealer for warranty and said that DC had a bunch of dumb s---s working there so be careful.
At DC they said Cummmins had a bunch of dumb s---s so they rediagnosed the problem. Found the lift pump was ok. I told them of cold start problem. They kept it overnight. Found the overflow fuel valve was bad and replaced it. Truck starts fine now.
Cummins-NW refunded my $106 for a bad diagnosis. A great outcome.
DC said my truck had a cold weather flash that reduced the starting fuel line pressure from normal 6 psi to 3 psi.
They asked me if I wanted the extreme cold weather idling flash that shuts down 3 cylinders to create an artificial load. NO THANKS on that one.
