Truck sleeps in the garage where the temp is around 50 degrees, when I go to start it in the morning, it fires right up but I have to feather the throttle for a few seconds to keep it running, is this normal? From day one, I have always had to depress the throttle a little to get it to fire up, but now the throttle has to be feathered for a few seconds to keep it running on cold start-up. Once truck has been warmed up, it fires right up.

Is this normal?

Bad Overflow valve?

Bad fuel return line? I didn't think this affected the early '98's

Bad starter selinoid?? sticking?

????

Thanks

Bill,

It is set around 850. The DTT TC really drags down the idle speed when cold. I usually let it idle in neutral for at leat 1 minute for the speed to build to 850-900 when cold.

I am in the process of trying to diaganose a similar problem.

Some feel it is normal, but in my case I know it is not. Last winter it would run on it's own no problem, but this winter it will not.

Here are a a few things I have on my list to check out.

-intake heater operation or possible air leak at intake heaters

-clean battery connections

-tighten and clean if necessary all connections associated with intake heaters

-misadjusted or starting to fail fuel shutdown selenoid

-fuel heater

-relays - check connections, possibly replace realys

-idle (mines ok and yours seems fine too)

These are just a few things I can come up with that may casue this problem. Let us know what you get figured out.

double checking

This is where I like my idle. Engine is warm. You guys should be close to this... in gear. :)
