Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Need HELP w/ smoke

I am having a little trouble tracking this down so I thought I would ask my faithful TDR members for some feedback.

When I start the truck cold it will fire up fine, but if the engine was up to temp before shutdown and I try to start the truck, it takes several spins on the starter to get it fired up again. However if I just set my foot on the throttle (with the slightest amount of pressure), it will fire up just fine.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Ryan

Check your fuel pressure. When the OF valve is getting weak the warm fuel and engine can cause the spring to lose push (there must be a better word) and cause low FP.

Thanks illflem. That is next on my list. I had to get my FP test gauge and adapter back from my father. I'll check it tomorrow.

One thing I was thinking was weak governor springs? It seem like this could cause the same scenario. Am I correct in thinking this? I guess it will give me some extra incentive to install my 3K GSK.
