my 98. 5 has a new lift pump and starts great when cold, but lately once it warms up and i shut it down and it sits for a few minutes it is very difficult to restart. it will restart when warm if i try immediately after i shut it off. ..... any ideas anyone?

thanks in advance

anybody have any ideas? it gettting to the point that i'm afraid to takie it out of town for fear it wont start. I've been driving it to work, and it starts right up imediately when cold.

thanks':('

It doesn't sound like a fuel leak, since those typically will make it harder to start the longer it sits. But I'd check for wet lines anyway. You wouldn't happen to have a fuel pressure gauge installed in your truck, would you? That could tell you right away if the new pump was bad.

If no gauge, what we're the indications that the lift pump was bad? If you we're at the point of a rough running engine, your high pressure pump may be on it's way out.

Any mods done to the truck?

sorry it took so long to get back to you, I changed out the fuel filter and bumped the starter to fill the filter housing and no

fuel was pumping. then i changed out the lift pump and all was well until the weather warmed up. now the warmer the engine temp the harder it is to start.

I am currently experiencing a similar problem. Installed new injectors and lift pump serval months ago. Truck has never started the same since. It start right up when cold but takes sevral seconds to turn over after it has been run to temperature. From what I have been able to read, it may be the overflow valve on the VP-44 but am not sure. Please post any successful fixes
