The past 3 days in a row the truck has had to crank about 2 secs to start. Never had this problem before. I checked for codes, none. I put on a carter fuel pump back towards the tank on the frame rails back in April. I've got a filter before the pump. Ran 1/2 steel braided line from the pump to the filter on the cyl head, stock fittings from the filter to the VP44. I have a fuel pressure gauge. Noticed the other day I could pull it down to 6 psi on the freeway, never pulled below 8psi before. When you first turn the key the pump engages for a split second, noticed today it doesn't sound as strong. I went back and retighted all my fittings, some weren't real tight. Is there anyway to check those pumps? would they cause a hard start? I looked for leaks, didn't see any, nor have I smelled diesel. My wife drives the truck most days since we use it to transport our kids. Any ideas?

Fass guys, how do you hook up the FASS to the fuel tank? Do you cut the line and use a rubber hose?

I can't remember the source of this information now but somewhere I learned that the symptom you described may be a match for a failed crankshaft position sensor.

Currently have the same problem. Installed new injectors and lift pump several months ago. Truck has since always taken longer to start when warmed up. Runs fine otherwise. I checked all the fittings from the lift pump intake to the VP-44 intake and eveything in tight. From what I read could be a VP-44 overflow valve problem but havent read from anyone who this worked for. Anyone with similar problem or solution. There are sveral threads about this and posted in a couple of them, sorry for the redundant replies.

I went back and tightend up all my connections the other day and I haven't had any trouble since. It runs better too. Fuel pressure is back to normal.
