NAPA Fuel line compatability for Diesel Fuel?

Fuel Pressure Guage Sender Installation?

Hello.

I have a '96 2500 that has progressively gotten tougher to start in the mornings or after it sits for a few hours. It takes many cranks to turn over which is only causing frustration and an eventual need for a new starter motor.

I've looked through the postings and have found some feedback relating to either the fuel overflow valve or the fuel lines. I don't see any fuel dripping or areas around the fuel line that are damp but some of the fuel line disappears when connecting to the fuel tank. I have seen mention of cracked return lines which can allow air to get into the system. Is the replacement of the fuel line something most anyone can handle. I'm mechanically inclined but a diesel novice.
Regarding the fuel overflow valve. Is there an easy way to check its operation before replacing it. My dodge dealer in Durham says he has never moved one through their business. It's a special order part and I would prefer to check other areas before committing.

Thanks for the replies in advance.

Regards,
John

John,it is more than likely the fuel return line where it passes over the bell housing. It doesn't take much of a leak to cause starting problems,it may just be damp,no drips. If you can cuss as loud as a $50 per hour mechanic you can do it yourself. It's a easy job, just hard to get at. You will need 19"of 5/16" hose, use Gates 4219LC,Napa has it. You might want to have two hose clamps for it on hand also, for when you get pi$$ed and cut the old ones off with wire cutters(easy way)

JC... i live over in durham and i had planned on replacing my line one day this week if possible... . mine leaks bad... no problems with start-ups, but it is leaking quite a bit... so i guess it is the supply and not the return... anyway good luck...
