Hello all,

Been way too busy to spend time on the TDR this summer, heck I can't even find the remote for the TV...

I had some new rubber mounted under the green monster (yes, finally dumped the LX's at 45k). Nothing fancy but a little larger than stock without having to add suspension parts. This was done at a local shop that is really a fleet truck service center.

Once the job was done I asked the head mechanic to give the beast a spin to offer a second opinion on some lingering clutch concerns (read that as 'velcro' clutch engagement).

He rendered the obligatory 'nice truck', but I could see he was not all that impressed. Remember, this guy works on state of the art semi's, farm tractors, contruction equip, etc. My truck is only slightly 'B. O. M. B. ed' and I did not have the PE turned on as he started his evaluation.

As we discussed the clutch 'issue', I asked him to find some hills and try to punch it in the high gears. I explained the boost gauge might show some non-stock values and that he should believe what he sees. Again, a virtual yawn from the mechanic.

Well, while running up a good grade on the highway we did as I asked and punched it. The truck moved out but only in a DD1 kind of way. He looked over and said, 'a little modified are we?', all the while still in the pedal. I replied 'yep' while reaching over and activating the hot PE which was preset in LEVEL3 but off.

The reaction by this previously unimpressed mechanic was the reason for this long winded posting. A day later and I am still laughing about it. It was a look of pure glee, surprise, and a 'I want I need I gotta have', coupled with the normal 'holy I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER'.

The long winded stream of questions that followed makes me thing I might have some sales in the future for some of you vendors that I know...

Have a great summer, (what's left of it),

David
