Hard to Start with Pressure Box

I have a friend of mine that has an '04, has TST PMCR and and Edge EZ, when he hooks his EZ RP box up it will start fine for a day or 2 then it wont start at all. It then has gotten to where if you unhook it, it would start right up, hook it up and it would just turn over and over, and when it would start it would run rough as crap. I loaned him my DD TTPM RP box and it done fine on his truck for about 2 weeks, now its doing the same thing, anybody have any ideas as to whats up?

What is most likely happening is your rail pressure is artificially low at idle due to the pressure box. If the same thing is happening on more then one pressure box not sure what a "DD TTPM RP box" is, it may be his rail pressure sensor falling out of spec.

Low rail pressure will keep the truck from starting and can make it run like crap once you get it started. I'd suggest as a starting point to have your friend run without a pressure box for a couple weeks and see if the issue repeats itself when stock.

Send me a PM for more info if you would like, there are a couple options as far as a new rail pressure sensor and/or a pressure box that has a "true stock" mode that may help your friend out.

i had the same thing happen, turned out to be the harness wasnt getting a good connection to the fuel pressure sensor, causing a hard, no start prob, ts just sent me a brand new mp-8 instead of a ramifier... Oo.

There are so many acronymns on this board it's rediculous lol. That would be a Diesel Dynamics True Torque Power Module Rail Pressure box which is the same as the Edge EZ.

Thanks D90boy, yeah well hes been ruuning around now for 3 weeks with just TST in place and no RP box at all and has experienced no problems what so ever. I would tend to lean toward a sensor check at this point. Anyone have the values for this sensor?
