This is my neighbors truck, and is completely stock, 98 24v. Appearently it has not been wanting to start on occasion. The starter turns over strong and continues to crank, but no fire. It will, however, start right up with a roll bump, and runs fine. No engine codes. As far as I know only 2 things come into play: No fuel, No compression. The bump start leads me to believe the injector pump is working fine. Dealership said the lift pump was fine. ? . ?. My first guess would be air sneaking in somewhere, but I haven't actually looked at it. Any suggestions??

Thanks

If it kicks right off with a push I doubt it is air in system. Could be starter problems as stated above. If you/your neighbor have a fuel pressure measuring device, hook it up to said truck and see what the pressure is while cranking, should be 7 lb. cranking and up to 14 lb. when running. It will start with no pressure but if it is too high it won't. bg

I hade this problem to on my 12 valve 96 4x4 and i changed the fuel shut off relay. I got it from larry B's for 20 dollars. His web page is in the links section under engine performance. What was happening is the relay isn't kicking the fuel shut off solenoid out so as a result no fuel. You can check this to see if it's not doing it's job by turning the key to the on position an then reaching in an try to push the lever on the fuel solenoid up if it goes up and clicks into place it could very well be the relay. By the way if you push it up an it stays up you can start your truck.
