I live in Fl. and the water that comes out of my hose leaves terrible, white crusty water spots, even before I have time to dry the truck. I have tried one of those in line water filters, but it did no good. Does anyone know a solution to this problem. Thanks for any help. Ron

water spots

the water supply for washing a veh is on the line before it gets to the house. A softener for the house does not treat this faucet.

Try a Mister Clean wash kit. It works quite well for hard water. The filters plug up in a few washes but it's better then trying to get the SPOTS off. You can get it at Wal-Mart or any store like that.

First wash your bottom side, then your wheels, tires etc.

After changing your wash towel start on the top of the truck

and go down, always keeping the top wet as well as both sides,

then rapidly wipe it off starting at the top, I usually dry the windows

first then the top and down the sides.

Jacksonville water is like this, don't let it dry on your windows, very

difficult to remove.

Working under a shade is best. It requires at least 2 large drying towels.

I use this too! I just dont use the mr clean soap, I use Meguires soap.

and I dry it afterwards.

Sounds like hard water. Try adding a cup of vinegar to a gallon of water, Have that in a cheap bug sprayer ready. After you rinse all soap quickly spray the truck.

Just as you can dissolve a tsp. of sugar in a cup of water you can't see it but you know it's in there. Hard water has calcium and magnesium dissolved in it. You cannot filter it out. It has to be chemically removed. Vinegar is a chemical. It will not remove the hardness, but will tie it up until it rinses the hard water off the paint.

Go back to the water softener idea. It is the best. I tapped in to the house line and ran one faucet outside just for washing the vehicle. Best method in my opinion especially if you already have a softener.

Softener and a reverse osmosis system will work pretty good ! Also, if you take the nozzle off the hose for your final rinse the water will have a 'sheeting" effect and less will be on the truck to wipe off.

In the summer and if I'm not going any where at the moment I'll wash mine in the rain and have no spots. If no rain I have a large barn porch 24x60 I can get in the shade. I'll wash then blow the trucks off with my Styhl blower then finish drying. Like said above taken the pressure nozzle off the water hose when rinsing will help. One of these days I am going to build me a cistern to catch rain water.

Plumb a line to use for the truck.

I know people who use "Jet dry" on their scooters. I guess it works, I never tried it.
