Fellow truckers,

I just got my new issue of the TDR and read article about harmonic balancers. Went and checked mine on the 3500 and sure enough, it is deformed really bad. This is the darned vibration I could never pin down.

I ordered Fluiddaper today. Will take picture of old one when I'm done.

You won't be disappointed....

I have had a Fluidampr on the truck for about 4 years now. Right off the bat I noticed a new "smoothness" throughout. From idle to redline. The engine seems to rev easier too. It other words I am at 2200 rpms and I don't notice it. With the OEM balancer I'd know it at 2000 rpms.

Get opinions on re-using the OE bolts. Somebody mentioned thay are "torque-to-yield" in other words, buy new bolts.

I used the OE torque of 94 ft lbs I think?

I can't believe it arrived today. And it shipped from Spokane WA. Letting truck cool off after driving today... maybe tomorrow evening. And shipping was free. Wow.

I read the same article and asked the mechanic about it today when I took my 05 CTD in for a 260K service. He looked at me like I was stupid. Said they used to change a lot of them on gassers. Guess I will check it myself this weekend.

After reading this same article, I checked mine and found it needed replacing... I ordered the Fluidampr from Geno's, which includes 4 new bolts.

It took me just over an hour to replace, most of which involved trying to reconnect the belt. I had to remove the transmission inspection plate in order to lock the flexplate to torque the damper bolts. All in all, very easy and the TDR magazine article was extremely helpful.

Now that annoying vibration I couldn't find is gone... I highly recommend the Fluidampr.

Thanks TDR!
